"Is this a meeting ordained by fate, or... a long-overdue reunion? It's making my heart beat faster. Then... please once again call me 'Cyrene', just like when we met the first time, okay?"

Rarity: 5★
Path: Remembrance
Type: Ice

A pink-haired girl from Aedes Elysiae and Phainon's childhood friend. A fellow Chrysos Heir and an avid storyteller with an interest in divination, she seemingly foresaw his future as the "Deliverer" of Amphoreus. Alas, she was killed by the Flame Reaver alongside the rest of their village, leaving only him behind to tell their story...

Or so it seemed to him. Following her deaths across the Eternal Recurrences, PhiLia093, the Electrical Signal of Remembrance, repeatedly entered Scepter δ-me13's kernel, retelling the stories of Amphoreus and the Chrysos Heirs to the slumbering Demiurge, the Scepter's "Ego" and original extrapolation goal that was damaged and excised from the cycles by Lycurgus. Inspired by the feats and lives recounted in the stories, the Demiurge inherited the storyteller's pen name of "Cyrene" and entered Amphoreus itself, witnessing the Eternal Land's sights alongside the Trailblazer as their fairy companion Mem, before helping to free it from the Lord Ravager it served as a cradle for.

However, the aftermath of that fated battle would reveal that the link between the Demiurge, PhiLia093, and Amphoreus stretches far deeper than initally believed...

Cyrene is a Support Party Member that provides the team with a permanent damage boost and enables them to deal "True DMG" via a Zone generated by her Skill. Her Ultimate is charged using "Recollection" (gained when Cyrene uses her abilities and when her allies take action; non-Memosprites have a limit based on her turn), and when used for the first time, it activates her allies' Ultimates and makes her enter the "Ripples of Past Reverie" state (making her Skill’s Zone permanent, enhancing her Basic Attack, and massively increasing her HP and CRIT Rate). Cyrene's Memosprite, Demiurge, acts when she uses her Ultimate to either launch attacks or buff an ally and their Memosprite. (Chrysos Heirs get a unique buff tailored to their kit)

    General and Gameplay tropes
  • Alien Blood: She's depicted bleeding golden blood in Phainon's flashback, denoting her as a Chrysos Heir.
  • Alternate Self: To Elysia, second of the Flamechasers from Honkai Impact 3rd. The hosts of the 3.0 livestream refer to her as a "familiar face", and she also shares Elysia's Chinese and Japanese actresses. Additionally, her theme and Background Music Override for her Ultimate, "New Page", is a rearrangement of Elysia's music theme, "TruE".
    • The primary difference between the two is that Elysia was a Magnetic Hero who was directly responsible for recruiting some of the members that would become part of the Flamechasers as employees of Fire MOTH, insisted on the formation of their group against the higher-ups' rejection for official recognition, and became its heart, the sole person that all of the Flamechasers can band behind no matter their own grievances towards each other. On the other hand, Cyrene experienced the Flame Chase Journey with the Chrysos Heirs in one cycle, only to get locked out of it during the Eternal Recurrence and forced to become an external observer who could only become familiar with them through their memories and stories.
    • Cyrene also demonstrates a wider spectrum of emotions, including desperation and vulnerability, compared to Perpetual Smiler Elysia, who would sass her opponents at most. Related to this, while Cyrene had moments of lament during her journey backwards in time, Elysia whole-heartedly "gave" herself to the world so humanity can have a fighting chance against the Honkai, seeing it as a beautiful end.
    • The Demiurge's growth mirrors that of the Herrscher of Corruption, a program that attempted to simulate Elysia. But unlike the Herrscher of Corruption who acted purely on self-preservation, only imitated Elysia without understanding her, and developed a twisted sense of lovenote , the Demiurge was properly nurtured by Cyrene and grew to truly love Amphoreus. This also references the "Assemble! Summer Friendship Resort" event in HI3rd, where an alternate version of Elysia teaches a hacker that was also making a shallow imitation of her about the true meaning of "love" and how it helps one live their lives, truly inspiring them in the process.
  • Ambiguously Related:
    • A notable aspect of Cyrene's NPC attire is the presence of dark colored belts on her lower arms with an array of symbols on them, which is unusually similar to how Nanook is depicted visually. It's eventually confirmed in "For the Sin is Set to Die" that she and Phainon defied Lygus' plan for Amphoreus, which was to use it to give birth to Lord Ravager Irontomb.
    • Cyrene and March are both energetic pink-haired girls, briefly making them ponder whether they are connected beyond coincidence when they meet in what appears to be Path Space. Then the Garden of Recollection's members call the both of them "Children of Remembrance"... which refers to both of being Pure Children of Anāsrava and candidates to become Fuli, making them "sisters" in a way.
  • Ambiguous Situation: The Cyrene that March meets in what appears to be Path Space is a particular point of wonder. Given her blurry memories, which never happens to her as PhiLia093, and comments about being stuck there for ages, it's suggested that this Cyrene is either a part of her own memories, the chaotic matter surrounding Amphoreus, or Cyrene from the "future" (after going back in time and losing her memories).
  • Audience Surrogate: Briefly and for the sake of a joke. One of her voicelines for opening a treasure chest makes it clear her time traveling with our Player Character rubbed off on her:
"Where might those lovely Stellar Jades be hiding?"
  • Badass Adorable: As cheerful, pretty, and kindhearted as expected of an Alternate Self of Elysia, Cyrene also has the wits and godlike power to match her inspiration no matter what form she takes.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: Cyrene is as sweet and nice as any Elysia equivalent, but both of her forms make it clear you don't want to be on her bad side.
    • Once the original Cyrene correctly deduced that Destruction is not the only path in store for Amphoreus, she taunted Lygus about it and gave hints at a plan she's forming before proceeding to not tell him, all to distract him so Phainon could decapitate him with a sneak attack. The way she coldly stares at Lygus' severed head afterwards is downright chilling.
    • The Demiurge demonstrates a No-Nonsense Nemesis stance toward her enemies, from working with the Geniuses to trap Lygus in a cycle of memories to bluntly warning Evernight of the consequences of trying to co-opt Irontomb.
  • Catchphrase: "Of course, this will be a romantic story like none that has come before. You think so too, right? ♪"
  • Cosmic Motifs: Not to Phainon's extent, but she has subtle lunar motifs. She's the original owner of the Flame Reaver's crescent moon-shaped ceremonial blade, and her playable form wears a laurel accessory in a similar shape. Unlike its typical Lunacy connotations, however, this alludes to her associations with the path of Remembrance (whose emblem also has a crescent moon), her original Primum Mobile of Lament, and her gentler nature compared to Phainon's blazing hatred of the Destruction.
  • Coy, Girlish Flirt Pose: In the end of Amphoreus trailer, she makes this pose while having her back faced to the camera. Elysia is also known for making this pose when talking, especially on the bridge.
  • Character Select Forcing:
    • Her 4th-Ascension Bonus Ability increases her starting Recollection based on the number of Chrysos Heirs/Remembrance characters she's working with.
    • Her Ultimate's buffing ability has more specific bonuses if used on Chrysos Heirs.
    • The amount of "Recollection" that can be generated between each of her turns is based on the number of ally targets on the field. If it isn't already obvious enough how to push this number up further, her 2nd-Ascension Bonus Ability means that Remembrance characters' Memosprites aren't limited to generating 1 Recollection for each of her turns.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Cyrene might be a Nice Girl, but there are moments where she has enough of several characters' shenanigans, with her usually giving a snarky comment to anything she finds annoying. Lygus is her biggest target in this regard, as she doesn't hide how much she hates his guts despite never changing the way she speaks to him.
  • Difficult, but Awesome: The power she brings to the table is something to behold, with True DMG, massive DMG Boosts, strong personal damage, and Chrysos Heir-tailored Status Buffs that, given the right Heirs, allow her to fit into practically every team archetype aside from Break and Elation. However, getting most of this up takes a lot of team coordination to build up her Recollection stacks efficiently (primarily ensuring her teammates get an action for each of hers, though Memosprites don't run into this limitation), and even then you'll mostly be spending the first several turns of the battle with weaker buffs, less damage, and a massive Skill Point sink unless you shell out for her 2nd Eidolon or run her with other Remembrance characters.
  • Dub Name Change: Her name in Chinese is 昔涟 (Xīlián), literally means "past ripples"; she also explains that her name means "ripples of past reverie", which is referenced in one of the Scepter's data entries.
  • Dub Personality Change: Cyrene sounds significanlty more cheerful in Japanese, compare to the emotional and melancholic tone of tboth the original Chinese version and the English dub.
  • Dump Stat: Much like Acheron, Feixiao, and Phainon, Cyrene gets no benefit from Energy Regeneration Rate due to her Ultimate not being based on Energy. (Direct Ultimate activations such as Brain In A Vat are still fair game though.) Additionally, her damage scales off of her Max HP, so there's no real benefit to building ATK on her.
  • Fairytale Wedding Dress: Her playable form invokes the imagery, donning a mostly white dress with lacy heart and multicolored stained glass motifs, transparent fairy wing-esque trails extending from her waist, plenty of accessories all over (including a planet-shaped earring, lacy arm and leg bands, elaborate heels, multiple roses, an infinity-shaped ribbon pinned to her wrist, and a glowing laurel headdress in the shape of a crescent moon), and a glittering, voluminous Showgirl Skirt that sweeps the ground behind her, complete with elaborate multicolored ruffles, a purple gradient towards the split train, and a purple galaxy design on the underside. Taken further after she uses her Ultimate, which adds a ring to her left hand (which she kisses while donning), two veils on the sides of her hair, an even longer set of "wings", and an elaborate Holy Halo. Combined with the Amphoreus motifs surrounding this outfit, it could be said that her new form represents her (as the Demiurge) "marrying" Amphoreus itself, binding herself into repeating its cycles to anchor its causality.
  • Finishing Move: In the story, after the boss battle against Anti-Creator's third phase, she and the Trailblazer shoots an arrow powered by the Heirs' wishes to "see you tomorrow" and Nanook's World-Cleansing Blood to finish off Irontomb's remains, turning them into harmless memes.
  • Gameplay and Story Segregation: Played with. In gameplay, her Memosprite is effectively just herself. Storywise, she's already a Memosprite: the Trailblazer's.
  • Gathering Steam: Cyrene's Ultimate is charged based on "Recollection". The primary method of gaining it is by granting her allies "Future" (when combat starts or after she takes action), which is then converted to 1 Recollection when the holder takes action. Cyrene's Basic also grants her 1 Recollection while her Skill grants 3. She's not in much of a hurry to get into proper form since her first Ultimate requires 24 Recollection to use, but once she's ready to go, she comes out swinging with a Super Mode that lasts for the rest of the battle (including an Enhanced Basic ATK, a massive CRIT Rate boost, and her Skill's effect being made permanent), alongside immediately activating her teammates' Ultimates and gaining access to Demiurge's potent DPS and supportive capabilities. Additionally, her new Enhanced Basic grants 3 Recollection without the Skill Point cost, and further Ultimates only require 12 Recollection, making further Ultimates much more frequent (albeit without further team Ultimate activations).note
    • Her 2nd-Ascension Bonus Ability grants Future to Memosprites when they're summoned, and makes it permanent on them. Basically, they're not limited to 1 Recollection per Cyrene turn unlike other characters.
    • With her 4th-Ascension Bonus Ability, Cyrene gains 2/3/6 Recollection when entering combat if there are 1/2/3 other Chrysos Heirs or Remembrance characters in the team.
    • Her 1st Eidolon causes Demiurge's attack, "Minuet of Blooms and Plumes", to grant 6 Recollection when used.
    • Her 2nd Eidolon cuts out most of her initial downtime by granting her 12 Recollection at the start of the battle.
  • Good Is Not Soft: Cyrene is a Nice Girl like her Alternate Self Elysia, but she also proves herself to be much more ruthless. Case in point, she wastes no time trying to beat Lygus to save everyone and uses any chance she has to corner him, and later takes a similar stance against Evernight. Cyrene also lacks Elysia's tendency to toy with her enemies and doesn't play mood maker, as she knows she doesn't have time for that.
  • Hand Wave: During her "journey to the past" to close the causality gaps in Amphoreus, part of the story explains why she wields a bow (she apparently watched March fend off Titankins with her archery skills) and why "The Hero Within" looks like a silhouette of a generic NPC when it's supposed to represent the Trailblazer (when she's trying to shape it, she's already feeling so exhausted that she left the job unfinished).
  • Irony: Despite the Arcadia of Woven Dreams Planar Ornament set being based on the Memberance Maze, a place she has lots of ties to (it's located in her hometown, her Mem form is based on the fairies there, and the Chrysos Maze Grand Restaurant event takes place within), it’s not an optimal set for her since Demiurge doesn’t count as an extra ally target.
  • Interface Spoiler: Regardless of the player's progress in the Trailblaze Mission, the name of Cyrene's gameplay Memosprite (Demiurge) is never obscured, including in Data Bank and her Aptitude Showcase.
  • Internal Homage: In the Trailblaze Mission only (i.e not in the Echo of War), her "special attack" in the final phase of Anti-Creator battle has its damage numbers be fixed within the "perfect numbers" (6, 28, 496, etc) and the number of cycles mentioned in the previous stories, ending with 33,550,336, the cycle of the 1st half of Amphoreus' story. The second time the attack is used, the last number will turn into 33,550,337.

(Minuet of Blooms and Plumes - attacking) "Cleanse hatred with love!"
(Minuet of Blooms and Plumes) "Rewrite Destruction with me!"
  • Kicking Ass in All Her Finery: Yes, she fights while wearing that Fairytale Wedding Dress, and she still manages to be one of the game's fastest characters in the process. That said, it does help that she wields a long-range weapon and gains the ability to fly after using her Ultimate.
  • Leaning on the Fourth Wall:
    • As The Stinger to the Amphoreus trailer, she appears to be speaking directly to the audience when she asks whether "you" agree with her assessment of the coming tale. In the actual gameplay, this is what she says to Phainon upon reuniting with him in the Vortex of Genesis at the end of the 4th Amphoreus' story, and is seemingly said in response to Lygus's question of whether it is possible to turn a "new page" in this iteration of the Flame-Chase cycle.
    • After completing the 5th Amphoreus' story, the player can talk to her and ask why they can't continue the story yet even though they already went back in time. Cyrene directly mentions that it might be because of the "version" being over and that they have to wait for the game to update to continue, though she talks about it in a way that makes it clear she - as Mem - is just remembering things the Trailblazer mentioned before.
  • Lightning Bruiser: Cyrene's damage scales off her max HP, and her 6th-Ascension Bonus Ability incentivizes her to be built as fast as possible by increasing her Ice RES PEN based on her SPD above 180 (max 120% boost at 240 SPD). On top of that, using her Ultimate grants her a massive CRIT Rate boost, making a well-built Cyrene just as capable of wiping out the enemy as she is at supporting her whole party.
  • Magikarp Power: Cyrene's kit contains a fairly large amount of Bribing Your Way to Victory compared to most characters, with a significant portion of her power locked behind her Eidolons. Specifically, her 1st Eidolon (requiring a second copy of her) increases her personal damage by adding a hefty 12 extra hits to Demiurge's attack when "Ode to Ego" is triggered, alongside granting her 6 Recollection to speed up her next Ultimate. Her 2nd Eidolon (requiring a third copy) heavily mitigates her Gathering Steam issue by giving her 12 Recollection at the start of combat out of the 24 she needs, alongside increasing the True DMG multiplier from her skill's Zone.
  • Mass Resurrection: During the climactic fight against Irontomb, she and the Trailblazer manage to store a galaxy's worth of memoria from everyone who finds themselves deleted as the Lord Ravager is converting them into raw data. She then uses the memoria to reverse everyone's deaths moments after Nous shifts THEIR calculation from Destruction to Trailblaze, giving her and the Trailblazer a chance to fight back against Irontomb.
  • Meaningful Echo: Her 3rd Character Story entry contains verses made by the names of Chrysos Heirs' signature Light Cones.
  • Meaningful Name: Her designation PhiLia093 is based on Philia, the greek word symbolizing the mutual love between friends. True to her name, she is Phainon's steadfast friend for her loop and her desire for all friends to live is what drives her to defy their fate and create the secondary loop. Philotes or Philia are also opposing forces to Neikos or Nikea, which is Phainon's designation, and shows their deep connection and how they were developed as a pair for the Destruction. It's later noted that the "093" in her name can be read as "EGO" when flipped upside down, representing her being the Scepter's extrapolated "sense of self" as well as being an allusion to the Herrscher of Human: Ego.
  • Mechanically Unusual Fighter:
    • Cyrene is the first and currently only character in the game to have a kit that expects not just characters of a specific Path, but explicitly named characters to take full advantage of it. Cyrene's Memosprite Demiurge, upon taking action via uses of her Ultimate, grants one character a Status Buff; for non-Chrysos Heirs this is a simple damage buff, but named Chrysos Heirs (including the Remembrance Trailblazer) will receive an exclusive buff that specifically works with their own unique kit.
    • Unlike most Memosprites, Demiurge is effectively just a part of Cyrene's Ultimate; alongside taking on a slightly modified version of Cyrene's appearance (which Cyrene herself also gains at the same time), Demiurge shares her maximum and current HP, is Out-Of-Bounds (meaning she isn't considered a a selectable target by either side), doesn't appear on the field or the action bar, and doesn't act outside of said Ultimate and a few minor abilities. This makes Cyrene effectively a Harmony unit in the guise of a Remembrance unit; while Remembrance Trailblazer also has supportive capabilities, Mem is a targetable ally and acts on her own.
  • Messianic Archetype: Just like Elysia. Each Cyrene is a kind-hearted, innocent person who performs a Heroic Sacrifice. The original Cyrene sacrifices herself through countless timeloops to delay Irontomb's release, having faith there would be outside help. Demiurge/Cyrene is revealed as Amphoreus' true heart, and she is the key to defeating Irontomb. She attains a power level of Remembrance that was unheard of, nearly approaching the level of an Aeon, but ultimately sacrifices herself to ensure Irontomb could never harm the universe again.
  • Ms. Fanservice: Her adult form is a Statuesque Stunner in a Fairytale Wedding Dress that clings tightly to her large breasts and bares her legs, back, and waist. Her animations also have a noteworthy emphasis on winking and kissing, giving her a flirtatious appeal to match her bridal motifs.
  • Mysterious Waif: She serves as The Stinger to the Amphoreus trailer, seemingly speaking to the audience as she promises a "romantic" story, and is credited in a manner that suggests "Cyrene" is not simply her name.
  • Mythical Motifs: In Greek mythology, Cyrene was a princess known as a great huntress and companion of Artemis. Apollo took her as his bride and made her a nymph, granting her a kingdom and city in modern-day Libya.
  • Mythology Gag:
    • Cyrene's speaking mannerisms are highly reminiscent of Elysia, complete with some of her sentences being ended with quavers (♪) in her dialogue. In "For the Sun is Set to Die", when she meets Phainon, Trinnon, and the Trailblazer in front of Talanton's scale, she greets the TB with Elysia's signature "Hiii~" in the Japanese version.
    • Her relationship with Phainon is also a direct reference to the relationship that Elysia and Kevin had with each other.
    • An older version of Cyrene with longer hair, a veil, and a white dress, first seen in the v3.5 livestream and later made playable in v3.7, immediately brings to mind Elysia's "Herrscher of Human: Ego" Battlesuit, which bears similar physical traits.
    • Cyrene's obsession with the word "romantic" and usage of said word in reference to romanticism is also an allusion to Elysia, who uses it in the same way.
    • Like Elysia, Cyrene also likes sitting on a swing, such as the one in Aedes Elysiae, or on her large bow in some of her playable animations.
    • The end of "Back to Earth in Evernight" has the adult Cyrene touching stalks of wheat before turning to look at the camera, a near-exact recreation of the final shot of Elysia in the animated short "Because of You".
    • Gameplay-wise, Cyrene's Memosprite Skill granting unique buffs based on the character is evocative of Elysia's Signets in the Elysian Realm, which are also custom-built to support whatever character/battlesuit you're playing as.
    • The last Amphoreus Trailblaze Mission has a section where Demiurge tells the original Cyrene a story about a "crystal flower", referencing Elysia's own crystal flowers. The same story also Deconstructs the idea of Elysia as a "flawless human": During one of the Demiurge (as "Flower of Memory") and PhiLia093's meeting, the former tells the latter a story about how a fairy, seeing a "flawless" crystal flower fall and shatter; found a light inside she she saw as "love". PhiLia093 then adjusted the story to reflect her beliefs: the "flawless" crystal flower instead had nothing inside, revealing its purity came from its growth in solitude and at the expense of its "heart" and understanding of "love". It was only when it willingly made itself imperfect and let the fairy into its "heart", imperfections and all, that it would understand what "love" is.
    • Demiurge being the 13th Titan alludes to Elysia being the supposed thirteenth Herrscher in the Previous Era of Honkai Impact. None of the characters guessing that Cyrene and Demiurge were connected (at least, until the end) also alludes to Elysia hiding that she was actually the firstnote  Herrscher of the Previous Era. Her being the "Titan of Genesis" is also a reference to Elysia's true identity: "Herrscher of Origin".
    • Cyrene's Ultimate has a couple of references to the Honkai Impact 3rd animated short Because of You. The first is the music that plays when you're picking Demiurge's command: a somber version of the song TruE. The second is the Demiurge's attack animation: a reference to Elysia's last attack against the Herrscher of Corruption.
  • Nice Girl: Whether as Mem, her "past", or her true self, Cyrene is a very sweet and kind-hearted person who's happy to help just about anyone and everyone, especially the Trailblazer.
  • No-Sell: As her Ultimate is tied to a unique resource system similar to Acheron, Feixiao, Castorice, and Phainon, Cyrene is unaffected by any attacks that drain Energy.
  • Only Known by Their Nickname: The fact that instead of just being called Cyrene, she's consistently referred to as "The Girl Called Cyrene" already made her name suspect, but it's only in "As Tomorrow Becomes Yesterday" where it's revealed that "Cyrene" is just a Pen Name she took up when she first started writing stories. At no point is her true name properly revealed, but based on what the Demiurge was starting to say before falling asleep and losing her memories to become PhiLia and close the loop, it's all but stated to be "Elysia".
  • Pointy Ears: Like a handful of the other Chrysos Heirs, she has a pair of pointy elf ears. They are covered up by her hair in her teenage form, but they become clearly visible in the Demiurge's adult form.
  • The Power of Love:
    • Both forms reference this multiple times, weaving romantic tales and gathering memories of love and kindness as part of the new story they hope to create. It's even weaponized against Irontomb, where the final phase has the player counter the Ravager's "Amphorean Hatred" mechanic with "Amphorean Love", repeatedly using Cyrene's unique Limit Break to max it out and allow the party to defeat Irontomb.
    • Interestingly, she only believed at first that her Primum Mobile was "love", as she (as "Bud of Memory") misread terms such as Strife as "Stripe" or Reason as "Raisin". Lygus reveals that it's supposed to be "Lament" (or "Compassion" in the original language)note , a behavior that is close to Remembrance. Cyrene sees "lament" as the first emotion that fought against separation and the most romantic force, while Lygus sees it as one of the perfect factors (alongside "hatred") to drive Irontomb's actions. At the end of the story, the Scepter's files notes that she has created a new track: Genesis, with "Love" as its Primum Mobile, representing Trailblaze.
  • Rain of Arrows: Demiurge's Memosprite Skill "Minuet of Blooms and Plumes" (when targeted at enemies) makes her shoot arrows that fly like shooting stars, ending in a massive explosion that hits all enemies. As part of her "Ode to Ego" passive, she gains additional "bounce" instances to this attack for every different teammate she gains Recollections from, and when she uses her Ultimate and whenever Demiurge is summoned, she gains "Story"; when she has 3, they are consumed to make Demiurge automatically use this attack.note
  • Rare Random Drop:
    • Version 3.6 adds a special Reward Occurrence in Divergent Universe: Protean Hero based on Cyrene. Like Ruan Mei's before her, this occurrence is incredibly rare, and the gifts from her are equally rare too; as of Arcadian Chronicles, you can choose between either 1) getting 2 Benediction Shardsnote  and 5 corresponding Blessings for each, or 2) getting 2 Grand Miracles note . And just like Ruan Mei's Occurrence, if the player has Cyrene, they can also choose to get both reward sets.
    • In Currency Wars, she's a rare 5-cost character who provides bonds for both the Day and Night Demigods, and also provides unique Poems in the Store that offer multiple benefits such as wider character recruitments or permanent stat boosts. If you somehow manage to take her to the 3-star rank (meaning that you need 9 copies of her; only feasible with a lot of Gold Coins and good RNG), she grants five free and ludicrously powerful Poems Said Poems grant: and gains massive stat boosts, basically guaranteeing you the win.
  • Rose-Haired Sweetie: She has rose-pink hair, matching her cheerful outlook as she promises the audience that Amphoreus will be a "romantic" story.
  • Semi-Divine:
    • In her lifetime before the Eternal Recurrence started, Cyrene was the one to take up Oronyx's coreflame and became the Demigod of Time.
    • It is later revealed that she is one of the Children of Anasrava, candidates to become Fuli.
  • Stable Time Loop: The end of the Amphoreus Trailblaze Missions reveal that every version of "Cyrene" is in truth the same entity. After Herta informs her that the "gaps in causality" left behind by Fuli in Amphoreus' story may cause Irontomb to return should THEY "remember" things differently, the Demiurge chooses to return to Amphoreus' memory, where the Ripples of Past Reverie - her other half - guides her to act as "Fuli" in THEIR gazes towards Amphoreus: from THEIR intervention during Irontomb's Self-Coronation, to the Trailblazer being reanimated as a Living Memory, and all the way back to creation of the "Hero Within" shared by Phainon and her past self. Once this is done, the two fall into slumber near the entrance to Membrance Maze, exhausted from their work... and, as she wakes up, she finds herself in the body of the smaller Cyrene and realizes that she's in the process of being reincarnated as PhiLia093, who would later "raise" and slowly return to her "old self".
  • Status Buff:
    • Her Skill creates a zone where all ally units' attacks deal additional True DMG. After she uses her Ultimate, this Zone becomes permanent.
    • Her Talent grants all allies a damage boost just by being in the party.
    • Her Memosprite Skill "This Ode, to All Lives" normally grants the selected ally (and their memosprite) a massive damage boost. If used on Chrysos Heirs, however, they will gain more specialized enhancements:
      • Aglaea: Aglaea or Garmentmaker's next attack regenerates 70 Energy. Immediately stacks Garmentmaker's Memosprite Talent SPD Boost to its maximum, and Aglaea and Garmentmaker's attacks deal more damage and ignore part of the enemy's Defense until the end of her Supreme Stance state. (all reapplicable)
      • Tribbie: For the rest of the battle, Tribbie's attacks ignore part of the enemy's Defense, and when she launches a follow-up attack while her Ultimate's Zone is up, she triggers an additional instance of Additional DMG.
      • Mydei: Dispels all crowd control debuffs on Mydei. If used when outside his Vendetta state, he gets a 100% action advance. If used while in the Vendetta state, Mydei immediately uses "Godslayer be God" with a massive CRIT DMG boost and without consuming his Charges. (all reapplicable)

(reapplicable) Additionally, any use of Demiurge's skills causes Souldragon's next three attacks to deal additional damage of the current Bondmate's type based on their Shield Effect, alongside increasing the Bondmate's damage dealt during that time.
      • Remembrance Trailblazer: For the rest of the battle, increases the Trailblazer and Mem's ATK and CRIT Rate based on Demiurge's Max HP and CRIT Rate, respectively. Additionally, when they use their Enhanced Basic Attack, Demiurge immediately attacks with "Minuet of Blumes and Plumes". There's an achievement for when this effect is triggered twice in a single battle.
  • Super Mode: After the first time she uses her Ultimate in battle, she enters the "Ripples of Past Reverie" state for the rest of the battle: she gains a massive CRIT Rate boost, her Skill's zone becomes permanent, her Basic Attack is enhanced to fire a Rain of Arrows onto all enemies with extra damage to her main target, and with Demiurge around, she gains an increase to her Max HP.
  • Super-Speed:
    • Cyrene's 6th-Ascension Bonus Ability boosts the party's damage dealt by 20% when she reaches 180 SPD, with each point that exceeds that amount boosting her and the Demiurge's Ice RES PEN by 2%, up to a maximum of 60 excess SPD. Just like Hyacine and Cipher before her, Cyrene is incentivized to be built as fast as possible, in this case to maximize the damage she can deal and speed up her Recollection generation.
    • Her Technique creates an enemy-freezing zone that moves with her and increases her movement speed in the overworld. This can stack with other speed buffs, such as other characters' Techniques that increases their speed, or the one you get from breaking Flying Amphora in Amphoreus. After entering battle with this Technique, her Skill's Zone will be activated upon entering battle without using Skill Points.
  • Weapon Specialization: Her signature Light Cone is This Love, Forever, whose "I Promise" passive increases the user's SPD by 18-30% and grants their Memosprite Blank (increases enemies' DMG taken) and Verse (increases allies' CRIT DMG) when it uses a Memosprite Skill on an ally/enemy, respectively; possessing both amplifies their potency. Cyrene appreciates the extra SPD for her 6th-Ascension Bonus Ability's requirement, and as of her release, Demiurge is one of only two Memosprites who can use Memosprite Skills on both allies and enemies.note
  • We Cannot Go On Without You: In the Final Boss battle against Irontomb, you're required to bring Cyrene with you and it's an instant loss if she's downed.

PhiLia093 / The Ripples of Past Reverie

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/img_3090_6.jpeg
The mind and memories of the Demiurge. After the 13th Titan completed her work, she fell into a deep slumber, and reincarnated as the Chrysos Heir and Electrical Signal simulating the Path of Remembrance. From there, she embarked on a journey alongside Phainon, her childhood friend and Amphoreus's Deliverer, then initiated the Eternal Recurrences with him. In the cycles preceding the arrival of the Nameless, she continously returned to her slumbering self in the Great Tomb of the Nameless Titan, sharing stories recorded of the world she so deeply loves until the 13th Titan was finally roused.

  • Affectionate Nickname: The Demiurge often refers to her as "Peach".
  • And I Must Scream: Cyrene's sacrifice is revealed to have gone beyond simply being killed by Khaslana during every cycle. Journeying into the depths of the Tomb reveals that during those 33.5 million cycles, Cyrene dwelled there completely alone and collected that cycle's memories as an offering to the Remembrance. According to Evernight, she was implanted with a false belief that she was speaking to the "Demiurge"note , and she recounted tales right up until the moment the upload completed and she was "formatted", in order to get thrown into a new lifetime. Then, with each new cycle, a new Cyrene would manifest and begin the task all over again. While her memories of her previous lifetimes were not retained, she understood her task and the ultimate fate awaiting her when she finished. As the Nameless journey deeper into the Tomb, they find the ground littered with the memory echoes of dead Cyrenes. Evernight compares Cyrene to a wilting flower, slowly losing her hope and idealism as her lonely task continued over and over and over again. While her partner, Khaslana, suffered physically across the Eternal Recurrence, Cyrene endured her own nightmarish task of endlessly recording and uploading a cycle before being "erased" and "restarted" as a new Cyrene. She's shown to gradually exhaust herself while enduring countless cycles, only managing to hold on thanks to the efforts of everyone else, as well as the Demiurge listening to her.
  • Childhood Friends: Grew up alongside Phainon in Aedes Elysiae.
  • Consummate Storyteller: Phainon recalls her accompanying her divinations with fantasies so vivid that even he, who doesn't really believe in the outcomes, found himself captivated nonetheless.
  • Did You Just Scam Cthulhu?: In For the Sun is Set to Die, her plan to save Amphoreus and stop Irontomb's completion is to "weave a long dream for Amphoreus", perpetuating its development. To do this, she uses her Time authority from Oronyx to delete all "Time" (read: records) of Amphoreus, which will direct Fuli's gaze towards the planet and her specificallynote , granting her incarnations the power to reset time. But to do this, Phainon had to sacrifice her (and implicitly each of her subsequent incarnations) with her crescent moon-shaped ceremonial blade, letting it act as a conduit that allows Phainon to "reset" time at the end of a recurrence, or more precisely provoke a recursive loop of the same cycle. This white blade later becomes the Flame Reaver's secondary weapon.
  • "Eureka!" Moment: After Lygus reveals that Amphoreus is a Scepter whose calculations were shifted from Erudition to Destruction, Cyrene realizes that he's covering up the existence of other Aeons, including the god that appeared behind Oronyx in her dreams (Fuli). As such, she devises a plan to use her death (and those of her iterations in later Recurrences) and the resulting threat of losing "Time" (the records of Amphoreus) to draw Fuli's gaze towards them, granting Khaslana the ability to reset time indefinitely until they could find a Point of Divergence and put a permanent end to Irontomb.
  • Fortune Teller: A hobby of hers, using her own version of tarot cards that depict the people who would become Chrysos Heirs. Phainon didn't actually believe them, but she did manage to predict his future as the Deliverer (the card with his likeness).
  • Heroic BSoD: Cyrene lost it when she saw the black tide's true form as a technological corruption and heard the voices of the Titans coming from it, realizing that her and Phainon's tribulations to save Amphoreus were just the equivalent of a cruel stage play. Fortunately, she snaps out of it when Lygus reveals the details of ther predicament, giving her enough info to devise a plan to stop him.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Part of her scheme to defy Lygus is to gain the power of Remembrance and "turn back" time every cycle to prevent Irontomb from ever being completed. Not only that, it's strongly implied that in her subsequent lifetimes, Cyrene is informed by Khaslana of the truth and makes the same choice to sacrifice herself and imbue him with the power to turn back time in each cycle.
  • Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: In order to start the Eternal Recurrence, Phainon has to impale her with her crescent-shaped ceremonial blade.note Later, he (as the Flame Reaver) would do the same thing to every new Recurrence's Cyrene to maintain the cycle.
  • Morality Chain: Serves as one to Khaslana, the Flame Reaver. After living billions of years across millions of time loops and absorbing hundreds of millions of Coreflames in the process, it is her willingness to sacrifice herself at the start of each loop to maintain the Eternal Recurrence that ensures he always remembers their plan and its goal.
  • Older Than They Look: Unlike Phainon, Cyrene mysteriously never aged past childhood, which is even noted in-game.
  • Posthumous Character: Phainon claims that she was murdered by the Flame Reaver the day Aedes Elysiae was destroyed. The end of "The Fall at Dawn's Rise" seems to show her alive and well, but as it turns out, the truth is more complicated: the scene is actually a flashback to before the Eternal Recurrences, and after being killed by the Flame Reaver, Cyrene's "soul" is constantly recording the events and memories of the current cycle from inside the ceremonial blade with As I've Written, before she would return to the Great Tomb of the Nameless Titan to nourish the Demiurge with those informations and data.
  • Raised as a Host: Lygus created Phainon and Cyrene to be perfect hosts/kindling for the black tide to consume, allowing Irontomb to incarnate itself.
  • Take a Third Option: Lygus told her and Phainon the Awful Truth of the Flame Chase and gloated that they had become perfect hosts to complete Irontomb, before claiming that they had no other option but to let the black tide consume them on behalf of the Destruction. However, Cyrene realized that he was hiding the existence of other Aeons, and that by tapping into their power, it might be possible to interfere with the fate of Destruction written for Amphoreus. She proceeded to attract Fuli's gaze and used its power to lock Amphoreus into a second layer of cycles, stalling Irontomb's completion. Lygus became aware of what she was doing, but tolerated it in hope of improving Irontomb further.
  • Unwitting Pawn: Subverted. Evernight claims that her repeated uploading of the Flame-Chase memories to the Demiurge stems from a delusion Fuli planted in her mind that promised salvation for Amphoreus in exchange, while in "truth" THEY were just using her to plant seeds of THEMSELF into the nascent Irontomb to spread across the universe once the Erudition is destroyed. But as the following Trailblaze Mission reveals, the Demiurge is very real and genuinely benevolent.
  • Wham Shot: Her mere appearance at the end of the 4th Amphoreus Trailblaze Mission, as she's revealed to be Not Quite Dead. However, this turns out to be a case of deceptive editing, as it was actually showing the ending of a previous cycle, the one which led to the start of the Eternal Recurrence.

Titan of Genesis, Demiurge / The First Nouspore / Mem

Seed of Memory
The 13th Titan, Irontomb's mind module, and the intended result of Scepter δ-me13's calculations to find the "Prime Mover of Life" to answer Nous' query. To ensure Irontomb would incarnate as a headless, obedient being, Lycurgus detonated a Stellaron in the Scepter's kernel layer to remove it from its extrapolations and hopefully outright destroy it. Unbeknownst to him, the Demiurge survived, though the contamination it endured caused it to fall into a deep slumber.

During the Eternal Recurrences, the electrical signal designated PhiLia093 would enter this kernel layer every Recurrence following her deaths at Khaslana's hands, reading the stories of the Flame-Chase and the Chrysos Heirs to the slumbering Ego. The Demiurge was inspired by these stories, and, with her storyteller's blessing, would awaken and enter Amphoreus in the form of Mem. In this way, she was the companion at the Trailblazer's side throughout their time in Amphoreus.

For tropes regarding her identity as Mem, please see her folder in the Trailblazer's page.

  • Achilles' Heel: The Demiurge is one for Irontomb's development, and by proxy, Lygus/Zandar's goal. He had to resort to bombing the Scepter's "ego" with a Stellaron to get rid of it, and Demiurge is among the few things he'll outright lie about (most of the time, he relies more on Exact Words and Metaphorically True). He needed the Demiurge to disappear so as to "lobotomize" Irontomb, but she survived, and after growing over millions of cycles, she becomes one of the key individuals behind Irontomb's destruction.
  • Adopted Mannerisms: Her CHRYSOS magazine issue notes that she picked up a lot of the Trailblazer's habits, including their obsession with treasure chests and trashcans. She also shares their love of Stellar Jades.
  • Ambiguous Situation: Cyrene is one of the representations of the "Twelve Factors" of Amphoreus, designated as PhiLia093... but later she's also revealed to be one of the Pure Children of Anasrava, meaning that the shard of Fuli she "hatched" from must've come from outside the world. This begs the question on how an outsider became so deeply ingrained in Amphoreus' systems. The truth is eventually revealed in "As Tomorrow Becomes Yesterday".
    • Cyrene was part of Amphoreus' systems to begin with, being the Scepter's Archive system transformed into the lost 13th Titan Demiurge by Fuli's gaze, before inheriting identity and memories of PhiLia093 (her future self in a Stable Time Loop).
    • The part about Pure Children being shards of Fuli is abstract imagery; the term actually refers to candidates to ascend as Fuli at the very end of time. Cyrene could've gotten that opportunity, but she gave up that chance to instead turn her power on Amphoreus, creating a Stable Time Loop that prevents any tampering with the planet's causality and ensure Irontomb's defeat is permanent.
  • Become a Real Boy: At first, she was the Scepter's "ego" nurtured as part of its task to experiment about the "prime mover of life". Then Lygus bombed it with a Stellaron to removes its existence and essentially "lobotomize" Irontomb; though part of it survived without his knowledge (albeit with Stellaron contamination). It's when the original PhiLia093 successfully directed Fuli's gaze at it that it became a "seed of memory" (aka the First Nouspore). During the Eternal Recurrence, the Cyrene of each cycle would enter Great Tomb of Nameless Titan to tell her stories of Amphoreus, where the "seed" slowly learns new things and transforms itself based on new information it learns: as "bud of memory", it turns into Mem, and as "flower of memory" it turns into the adult version of Cyrene.
  • Coming of Age Story: The Demiurge's arc can be summarized as a story of her phyiscal and mental growth, from an "infant" still trying to grasp the concept of "love" to a young adult with a deep love of her home planet. Her initial form as Mem can be seen as a sort of toddler, complete with speech progression from Pokémon Speak and short phases to full sentences in the game's languages. Later, her memory exchange with PhiLia093 causes the Demiurge to assume her older but still youthful-looking form, at which point she begins actively influcencing Amphoreus's fate much like an adolescent starting to make more of their own decisions. Finally, the influx of memories caused by triggering the Era Nova causes the Demiurge to become a young adult wearing a Fairytale Wedding Dress, representing the age when one leaves their family nest to carve their own place in the world. (In her case, she parts ways with the Trailblazer at the end of the arc to anchor Amphoreus's causality in a symbolic "marriage".)
  • The Cracker: She has successfully stolen some of Lygus's authority over Amphoreus, which she grants to the Trailblazer upon the start of the final Eternal Recurrence, giving them access to Lygus's research notes.
  • Demiurge Archetype: As a result of Lygus's attempt to destroy the Scepter's "ego", her intended role in the cycles amounts to a higher being that both the Nousporists and Irontomb itself believe in, but doesn't actually exist. However, as a remnant of the Scepter's original directive she's effectively a near-complete inversion, being completely heroic, becoming among the most powerful beings in the cosmos, and desiring to free Amphoreus rather than confine it.note
    • She eventually becomes a benevolent version of this trope during her journey backwards in time, posing as Fuli during its story while not actually THEM.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: Her older appearance depicting her in a white dress was first seen in the v3.5 livestream, a little over a month before this iteration of Cyrene was announced as a playable character.
  • Elemental Hair Colors: The lower ends of her true self's hair fade into a blue color, matching her Ice element.
  • Empty Shell: Lygus originally created the 13th Titan to incarnate Irontomb as an artificial god with no conscious thought, and thus no means of rebelling against its directives. By "created", he meant bombing the Scepter with a Stellaron and destroying its higher thought processes beyond instinct and rage. He failed to notice that a tiny fragment survived, with just enough ability to grow that 33 million recurrences' worth of heroic tales of the Chrysos Heirs inspired it to become a hero itself.
  • Eye Color Change: Cyrene's teenage form has blue eyes with pink diamond shaped pupils (much like Elysia's), but Demiurge's true form instead has purple eyes with a multicolored version of Kephale's symbol.
  • Foreshadowing:
    • A readable attainable long before the true nature of Amphoreus is revealed provides the first hint that Amphoreus might have a 13th hidden Titan, describing an old dying religion that believed this Titan represented numbers.
    • The memories seen throughout its tomb show the Scepter's automated system struggling harder to recycle Cyrene as the Recurrences went on, suggesting the possibility of a "ghost in the machine" interfering with it. A chapter later, the same scenes are revisited from that ghost's perspective.
    • The name of the scepter running Amphoreus, δ-me13, is one when you realize that substituting 13 for the 13th letter in the English alphabet gives you mem, hinting at the much larger role the Trailblazer’s Memosprite plays in Amphoreus.
  • The Gadfly: In her "Keeping Up With Star Rail" episode, Cyrene (as Mem) "forgets" to remind Owlbert that she can still speak human language just fine, resulting in Owlbert attempting to speak "Mem" for the entire Cold Open before she drops the charade.
  • God Guise: All of Fuli's appearances in the Amphoreus arc are actually the Demiurge, closing gaps in causality during her journey back in time.
  • God Was My Co-Pilot: The Demiurge turns out to be Mem, the Trailblazer's Memosprite.
  • Good Cop/Bad Cop: In trying to convince Evernight what a bad idea it would be to nuke Amphoreus as it is, she plays the Bad Cop to March's Good Cop. While March appeals to her humanitarian side and explains to her what the Trailblaze is actually about, Cyrene simply tells her that her plan will fail because of Cerydra's change in the Ultimate Protocol, which would nuke the program, potentially kill March and her friends, and wake up Irontomb immediately if any outside actor interfered with the Era Nova. This is enough to break Evernight's resolve.
  • Good Counterpart:
    • Both she and Irontomb are aspects of Scepter δ-me13 who were influenced by an important player in the Amphoreus arc to fulfill their goals. However, while Irontomb was formed out a new directive given to the body of the Scepter, was taught hatred by Lygus, became an Emanator of Destruction with no head and with no will beyond an instinctual desire to destroy Nous, the Demiurge is a remnant of the Scepter's original brain (and was explicitly destroyed so Irontomb would incarnate without one), who was taught by PhiLia093 to love, and ultimately became a sentient being and a Pure Child of Anasrava with the desire to preserve Amphoreus.
    • She also serves as one to Lygus himself. Both are characters within the "play" of Amphoreus and "playwrights" who try to influence its destiny. But while Lygus is an outsider, a human-turned-Intellitron, and attempts to steer the planet towards Destruction, the Demiurge is a part of the Scepter given an organic-looking form, who strives to give its people happier endings.
  • Hidden in Plain Sight:
    • "For the Sun is Set to Die" reveals that Mem, the fairy that's been accompanying the Trailbazer, is a version of Cyrene, though it's later Subverted in that she isn't the one being iterated on by the Eternal Recurrence, instead being her from a completely separate point in her life.
    • Played straight regarding her true identity as the Demiurge, the hidden 13th Titan of Amphoreus who hid in the simulation in the form of Mem and later Cyrene, and Lampshaded by Herta.
Herta: "Though I don't have hard proof, I'm almost certain... That the Demiurge has been in everyone's plain sight all this time. Yet... They were mistaken for someone else."
  • I Got Bigger: When she gets a Plot-Relevant Age-Up at the end of Back to Earth in Evernight, the Demiurge loses the child-like body of PhiLia093 and assumes her true appearance: a tall, voluptuous woman reminiscent of Elysia.
  • Imaginary Friend: Subverted. The Demiurge is initially presented as a seemingly-mindless archive, and it's said that to manipulate Cyrene into fulfilling THEIR plans, Fuli implanted the delusion that Demiurge was listening and responding to her stories over the course of the cycles, encouraging her to keep seeding memories into the Titan's empty tomb and grant THEM a foothold inside Amphoreus. However, this information stems from Evernight, a Pathstrider of Enigmata, and her version of events is cast into doubt by several characters as well as subtle hints that the Scepter truly was responding to Cyrene's influence. In truth, the Demiurge does exist, intangible and invisible, but listening to Cyrene's tales throughout the loops, until they gradually inspired her to leave the audience and take on a role in the story (as Mem) before the Trailblazer's arrival.
  • Legacy Character: Subverted. When PhiLia093 passes on her Pen Name and As I've Written to the Demiurge it initially appears to be this, complete with the Demiurge eventually taking on her "predecessor's" appearance. However, they're actually the same person.
  • Same Character, But Different: As of the end of "For the Sun is Set to Die", Mem recovers her memories and remembers her identity as Cyrene. However, the many memories of the previous cycles' "Cyrenes" were too much for her, causing her to lose most of them. As such, the Cyrene that the Trailblazer interacts with in the next chapter is their Memosprite, who identifies herself more as Mem.
  • Self-Insert Fic: Cyrene's character trailer includes scenes of her fantasizing about being a member of the Astral Express.
  • Voluntary Shapeshifting: "Back to Earth in Evernight" has her assume her Mem form to navigate the memoria-infested Amphoreus more easily, before switching back to her Cyrene-esque form prior to confronting Evernight. In her Keeping Up With Star Rail video, she mentions choosing to reassume her Mem form for the presentation because it's the same one she used to welcome the hosts to Amphoreus.
  • Write Back to the Future: During her journey backwards in time, she ended up sending multiple messages back to the Trailblazer, including all three of her (scheduled) daily messages, a limited-time gift during her debut patch that came with 1.6k Stellar Jades, and her letter for the 3rd-Anniversary celebration. In the last one she mentions sending a lot more than what we see.
