Chuck Chicken (Animation)

Chuck Chicken is an animated series from Malaysia produced by Animasia Studios. The titular character, Chuck Adoodledoo, is a Kung Fu expert inheriting Golden Egg Securities, who uses the epic power of a golden egg he was granted by a Fire Phoenix in a volcano to turn into "Kung Fu Chicken," able to take on the powers of one of twelve animals. His friends, Flick Feathers, a dove, and Wing Span, a hornbill, help him to take on threats to keep Rocky Perch safe. They take on many villains, the most notable ones being Dr. Mingo, Dee the duck, and the vulture Sinister Emperor.

The original run started in 2010.

A sequel series, Chuck Chicken: Power Up appeared on YouTube. The golden egg hatched into a Little Phoenix in this series, so instead of transformations being granted by his golden egg he uses disks he slots into his new Nixogear to gain one of nine abilities from Little Phoenix. In addition, a "Paper Toy Series" was made that features the characters from the series.

Not to be confused by the web animated series by Michael Cook, Chucky Chicken Cartoons.

This show provides examples of:

  • Animalistic Abilities: The Golden Egg, which hatched into a Phoenix, gives Chuck the abilities of various animals.
  • Big, Thin, Short Trio: Chuck, Flick and Wing, the main trio. Also, Dex, Don and Dee the ducks.
  • Dem Bones: Emperor Sinister, who commands an army of skeletons. There's also skeleton pirates and ninjas appearing in separate episodes.
  • Egg-Laying Male: The Golden Egg was laid by an old warrior who was able to take on aspects of rhinos and cheetahs, so that he could make his abilities live on forever. However, it hatched into a Little Phoenix, losing the egg's power, though it still had some transformation abilities to give.
  • Extendable Arms: Chuck can extend his arms pretty far with his Rubber Snake transformation.
  • Foul Waterfowl: Dee and his pals Don and Dex, a trio of rogue mallards.
  • The Grim Reaper: Appears in an episode, but actually subverts several expectations: Death is shown to be female, and instead of acting as a personification of it, she instead revives people, because she likes it if people are alive. Chuck ain't too happy about that, with people left and right coming back from the dead, most of them being old folks on their last legs, leading to hospitals and intensive care units closing down. Chuck has to spell it out for Death that We All Die Someday, arguing that her bringing people Back from the Dead disrupts the natural order, on top of causing overpopulation. It works, with Death leaving, and many of the people she revived are back to being dead.
  • Hybrid Monster: In one episode, Dr. Mingo wants to look handsome like a popular celebrity, and steals a hair from him, on top of other ingredients such as a lion's claws, a crocodile's teeth, and a polar bear's tears. He tries to mix them together in a potion that can transform him, but it goes horribly wrong, with him looking like a mishmash of the animals he stole from, having a bear's lower body, a lion's head, and crocodile tails.
  • Knight of Cerebus: Emperor Sinister, who is shown to be a much bigger threat than most characters, primarily wanting to destroy the world and such.
  • Laughably Evil: Many of the villains, primarily the ducks Dee, Don and Dex, and flamingo scientist Dr. Mingo.
  • Living Shadow: Chuck gets a shadow doppelganger in one episode, who shares many of the same abilities as him.
  • Nice Job Fixing It, Villain!: Dex, who stupidly reveals the code (which was extremely simple) to an impenetrable safe to Chuck, in the Robot-Zilla episode.
  • Not Zilla: The Mechagodzilla Expy, Robot-zilla, who appears in the eponymous episode. It is made of indestructible, bulletproof armor, forcing Chuck to kidnap Dex and his minions in order to get a remote control to shut it off.
  • Professor Guinea Pig: Pen and Guin fool around in Dr. Mingo's laboratory by mixing and ingesting several chemicals just to see the effects they would have on them. Some results include sprouting an afro, sprouting spots on their armor, gaining muscles that become as limp as noodles later, and self-inflation. Needless to say, Dr. Mingo isn't impressed.
  • Rhino Rampage: Chuck takes on aspects of this with his Rhino Strength transformation.
  • Shockingly Expensive Bill: In the first episode, Chuck takes a job to stop a volcano from erupting for a $1,000 reward. Not only does the mayor not pay him for unwittingly filling the volcano with holes using Don and Dex's drilling vehicle, when Chuck accidentally makes the whole volcano collapse, he's charged $10,000,000 (10,000 times what he planned to earn) for it.
  • Smelly Skunk: Chuck takes on aspects of this with his Smokey Skunk transformation, being able to fart at will which usually makes his enemies pass out. When he was turned tiny in "The Incredible Shrinking Chicken" he used his farts to fly like a deflating balloon to escape the grasp of an earthworm.
  • Suddenly Speaking: The Chuck Chicken Power Up series after having no characters talk in it for the first few episodes, suddenly has voiced dialog for characters involved in the story.
  • Super-Senses: Chuck has advanced vision with his Eagle Eyes transformation and his Phasing Bat transformation gives him advanced hearing with sonar waves.
  • Super-Speed: Chuck has this with his Speeding Cheetah transformation.
  • Super-Strength: Chuck has this with his Rhino Strength transformation.
  • Terrible Trio: Two trios: The first being Dee, Don, and Dex, the later two being the sidekick of Dee. The second is Dr. Mingo and his sidekicks Pen and Guin.
  • The Phoenix:
    • A Fire Phoenix grants Chuck Adoodledoo the Golden Egg he uses throughout the series. He is given it as a replacement after requesting Wing's actual bag, unfortunately burnt to a crisp, after refusing Flick's request for both the extravagant bags the Phoenix offers.
    • The Golden Egg later hatched into a Little Phoenix in Chuck Chicken Power Up.
  • Transformation Trinket: Chuck uses a Nixogear in Chuck Chicken: Power Up which acts as this. Before it hatched into the Little Phoenix, the Golden Egg acted as one.
  • Two Guys and a Girl: Chuck Adoodledoo, with Flick Feathers being his female friend, and Wing Span his male.
  • Vile Vulture: Sinister Emperor acts as a major villain of the series.
  • Villainous Friendship: Dee and Dr. Mingo started getting along in "The Laughing Gas" after they found out that they have something in common.
  • Weaponized Stench: In his titular episode, Rotten Robert uses his stench as a tool, with it taking the form of extendable arms and the shape of a gun which does fire bullets.
  • World of Funny Animals: Birds, if you will.
