DS-K-40 was a series of experimental ELINT satellites developed by Yuzhnoye to test technologies for the Tselina-O program.
These satellites were to test the Kust-40 SIGINT equipment in orbit.
Two satellites were launched by Kosmos rockets from Kapustin Yar in 1965 and 1966, but both failed to reach orbit.
