Open source Algol 68 implementations
Implementations for the Revised Report language
This project offers open source implementations for UNESCO/IFIP's Algol 68 (the Revised Report language). The project offers two implementations: Implementation 1 is Algol68G: a recent checkout hybrid compiler/interpreter by Marcel van der Veer, supporting arbitrary arithmetic, partial parametrisation, complex numbers, POSIX threads, GNU plotutils, GNU scientific library, curses, sound, TCP sockets, RegEx and PostgreSQL. Inplementation 2 is algol68toc, a port by Sian Mountbatten of the vintage Algol68RS (UK Defense Research Agency) compiler. The implementation emits C code. -

I recently incorrectly built 12.2.0 so have deleted it. Also included is Gnu make along with the necessary MinGW dlls to make it all work. I build this tool chain, from time to time, to use for testing Flash Insight, a device programmer that is available on my website. I want to make it available to the embedded development community since building gcc under MinGW isn't a trivial exercise and if you're like me you probably just want to work on your project and not fiddle with building tool chains. Unzip the archive to the location of your choice, include the top level "bin" directory in your path and start developing. -

MinForth V3.4 is a classic Forth system with command-line interface. Development resource requirements are minimal. A source text editor and a C compiler are sufficient. By design no toolchain is required to adapt or rebuild MinForth. A complete rebuild takes only few seconds. Current sources are for Windows and Linux (32-bit or 64-bit). MinForth primitive definitions are written in mixed Forth and C language and are transpiled to pure C code. Main but not exclusive application for the transpiler is to build the MinForth V3.4 high-level Forth compiler. MinForth V3.4 is widely conformant to the Forth-2012 draft standard and passes the usual test suites. Flash Insight doesn't currently support PowerPC but once I have the tool chain building for one target it generally builds for all targets.
