Alvarine Gurney (née Bisque) was the mother of Jacqueline Gurney, Gladys, and possibly Lou and Edith, the maternal grandmother of Selma Bouvier, Patty Bouvier, and Marge Bouvier, the wife of Ferdinand Gurney, and the mother-in-law of Clancy Bouvier.
She was also the maternal great-grandmother of Bart, Lisa, and Maggie Simpson on their maternal grandmother's side, the adoptive maternal great-grandmother of Ling Bouvier, and the grandmother-in-law of Homer Simpson on his mother-in-law's side. She makes her first and only appearance during Marge's flashback in "Fear of Flying".
She was voiced by Julie Kavner
History[]
She had very poor eyesight, and when using the "here comes the aeroplane" technique to put food in to baby Marge's mouth, continuously ran the spoon into Marge's face and eventually her eye.
She disapproved of her daughter Jacqueline and her granddaughter Marge's choice of husbands.
A picture of her when she was younger can be seen in the episode "Selma's Choice" during the will from Gladys.
Trivia[]
