Psamtik I

From Simple English Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Wahibre Psamtik I (Ancient Egyptian: Wꜣḥ-jb-Rꜥ Psmṯk) was the first pharaoh of the Twenty-sixth Dynasty of Egypt [en]. He ruled Egypt from the city of Sais [en] in the Nile delta between 664 and 610 BC. He became Pharaoh because King Ashurbanipal of the Neo-Assyrian Empire invaded Egypt and made him king. He replaced Twenty-fifth Dynasty [en] of Kushites. Then the Assyrian Empire became weaker, he became stronger.
