NHL 19 is an ice hockey video game. It was published by EA Sports and was developed by EA Vancouver.[1] It is the 28th game in the NHL series.

It was released worldwide on September 14, 2018. It was released for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.[2]

The game introduced a new mode called the World of Chel which helps improves and increase the statistics of the player's created player. A 1 v 1 v 1 mode called NHL Ones was also added and allows players to play against each other in pond hockey and with no rules. Improvements were also made to make skating better. The game heavily featured customization and a new 3-on-3 mode called Pro-Am was introduced which allowed players to play against hockey legends to earn gear for their player.[3]

On June 20, 2018, it was announced that P. K. Subban of the Nashville Predators was chosen as the cover athlete for NHL 19.[4]

Reception

[change | change source]

The game received positive reviews by game critics. Critics said that they liked the new pond hockey mode, improved controls, and replay value. However, critics also felt that many of the real-life player's faces not being included was disappointing and that the commentary from NHL on NBC's Doc Emrick and Eddie Olczyk was starting to get stale after many games without a change. They also did not like the lack of customization for the game..[5][6][7]
