AI slop
Appearance

AI slop (sometimes shortened to slop) is digital content made with generative artificial intelligence (or "AI"). AI tools are used to make content without deeper meaning.[1][2][3] This is why many people see this content as being of low quality. The term "AI slop" can be used to mean texts, images, or music, or videos that were made using AI tools. Due to how easy it is to use AI tools to make content, there is a large amount of it on the internet.[4] Social media websites are at higher risk of having lots of "AI slop" posted on them, especially social media focused on videos such as YouTube.[5][6] In December 2025, more than 20% of AI slop videos are seen by new YouTube users.[7]
