In the past 5 years, Cornell’s administration has stripped us of our rights.
100+ students have been suspended without investigation.
Administration has undemocratically instituted a new Student Code of Conduct that has given themselves unbridled control over suspensions with no due process. Investigations can last up to 246 days, and in that time, students lose access to housing, dining halls, and must repay tuition.
what we do
Fight for the rights of our students
Students have no voice on campus; we know that needs to change. Students for a Democratic Cornell is an independent, student-run organization that fights for free speech on Cornell University’s campus. It fights for an end to unjust interim suspensions of nonviolent student protestors and reform to Cornell’s repressive Code of Conduct. SDC has faced harassment from administration and campus police, despite following Cornell’s stringent Expressive Activity Policy.
Focus
speech
The Code of Conduct prevents students from speaking out. It’s time to fix that.
Method
Taking Action
We educate students on the Code, organize events such as teach-ins, and coordinate between students, alumni, and the incoming class.
Mission statement
The Program
Students have a right to free expression on their campus. The only way to ensure our rights is through effective democratic power. Administration must listen to the student mandates of Petitions, Referendums, and resolutions. Cornell must restore an independent judiciary and a code of conduct under the control of all democratic bodies on campus.
Let's come together and make a change.

Alumni network
Alumni can fund the work, amplify the record, and keep pressure on the institution after students graduate.
The alumni page now supports both outreach signups and donation-interest submissions. Anyone who wants to give can submit the form and someone from the organization will follow up directly.
