Bio

As a WordPress entrepreneur, designer and developer all wrapped up in one, Rich Tabor is recognized as one of the top leaders in this post-Gutenberg era of WordPress. His ever-precise design chops have topped the 2018 Automattic Design Awards and led him to co-found CoBlocks – a top-notch set of page builder blocks and tools for Gutenberg, ThemeBeans – a premier WordPress theme shop and Iceberg – a markdown editor for Gutenberg.

Rich is currently at Automattic, working towards making the web a better place.

WordPress Origin Story

Building experiences is what I do. I obsess over details you hardly see, but certainly feel.

Since 2011, I’ve been designing, building, and launching WordPress products like Iceberg, CoBlocks, ThemeBeans (acquired by GoDaddy). Over these past few years, my focus has turned towards defining top-notch block-editor experiences, to better empower folks to publish with WordPress.

In 2019, I joined GoDaddy as the Senior Product Manager of WordPress Experience, where we launched and grew the Go WordPress theme to just over 90,000 active installs and took CoBlocks from 5,000 installs to 500,000 installs in two years.

After a few years at GoDaddy I jumped in with Extendify as Head of Product — where we built a platform of site design and creation tools (Extendify Library, Launch, and Assist) to empower folks to publish beautifully online. The Extendify plugin was one of the fastest growing plugins of 2022, having gained nearly 70,000 installs in the first year.

Currently I’m a Product Manager at Automattic, working on making the web a better place.

I love WordPress — it’s priceless and free at the same time, equipping and inspiring folks to be successful online.
