WordPress Origin Story

Embracing WordPress: My Journey from Skepticism to Advocacy

For a long time, I had my doubts about WordPress. As an IT technician and educator, I’d often heard negative things about content management systems (CMS), and WordPress being one of the most popular, was frequently the target of these criticisms. It felt like every time I turned around, someone was discouraging me from using it. This made it hard for me to consider compliance with WordPress seriously.

However, a turning point came when a good friend of mine reached out to me via social media. He saw potential where I saw limitations and took it upon himself to guide me through the basics of WordPress. Patiently, he introduced me to the platform, explaining each step and feature in detail. His guidance was like a light in the dark, helping me to see the possibilities that WordPress offered.

As I began to explore WordPress, my initial skepticism started to fade. I discovered its versatility and ease of use, and soon, I found myself enjoying the process of creating websites. From businesses to schools, churches to hospitals, I realized that WordPress could handle it all. The more I learned, the more confident I became, and my passion for WordPress grew.

Today, I am not just a user but a proud advocate for WordPress. My journey has taken me from hesitation to enthusiasm, and I now have the privilege of sharing this knowledge with others. I am honored to be a WordCamp speaker, a Meetup speaker, and a Meetup organizer, WordCamp organizer, NextGen Organizer. Through these platforms, I have the opportunity to inspire and educate others about the potential of WordPress.

This journey has taught me that sometimes, all it takes is a bit of guidance and an open mind to transform skepticism into advocacy. I am grateful for the friend who took the time to show me the way and for the community that continues to support and inspire me. WordPress has become more than just a tool; it’s a part of my mission to help others realize their digital dreams.
