WordPress Origin Story

Since I first started programming, WordPress has been a part of my life. I studied multimedia journalism and comparative literature in college, and have always been interested in reading, writing, and publishing.

When I graduated from college in 2012, I decided to teach myself web development, and I tinkered with my first WordPress sites around then as a means of creating my own web presence and publishing content online.

After becoming a full time front end developer in 2014, I continued working with WordPress for personal sites, always on the back burner, until 2022. Looking for a project to contribute to that would align with my values, it was then that I realized WordPress, which had always been right in front of me, could be a means of bridging my love for both publishing and technology.

I’m now on the research and development team for Automattic and am excited to continue working with a technology that has enabled so much for me and others.
