Daily brown spotting for an entire month?? by swabluish in Periods

[–]swabluish[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi yes!! If you have similar issues I would highly recommend seeing someone to check it out.

I ended up having PCOS (even though I have 0 physical symptoms of it aside from a history of irregular periods). And because of the hormonal imbalance caused by PCOS, my endometrium was abnormally thickened to 15.1 mm which was causing the spotting.

The thickened tissue actually looked suspicious on the ultrasound so I had a get a biopsy to rule out cancer, and fortunately it ended up being benign. I hope you can get it figured out if you’re going through the same thing!

It was my first time ever seeing one and it definitely left a great first impression!

Not OP but I know ovarian cancer can cause abdominal pain and especially bloating. Never hurts to go check it out if you’re concerned.

Also the total reluctance to fully investigate women’s health issues in general

I asked why my periods were so irregular during every GYN appointment since age 13. Every time, it was either “it’s normal because you’re young” or “it’s normal because you’re underweight.”

It was PCOS that went undiagnosed for a decade (no one ever bothered to check, even when I asked) and my endometrium was 15mm overgrown, meaning my risk for cancer is significantly increased and I needed to be on birth control a decade ago. Also I’m likely infertile (after being told to just “not worry about it for now.” Why?!)

Shoutout to the random NP at my college campus clinic that listened to me :)

Condoms AND birth control and you still got pregnant? Is it that common or did you just get extraordinarily unlucky?

I worked (just left it) in a neurodegenerative diseases research lab and just completed my own project on frontotemporal dementia—the results of which parallel results from similar Alzheimer’s studies.

All I can say is: proper (and more importantly, supplemented) choline intake is being proven a preventative factor for development of these diseases. Of course choline alone is not the cure to all dementias, but eat your eggs!

This sounds very similar to ROCD, has this ever been considered?

Endometrial biopsy // positive experience by Jenijnes in endometrialcancer

Definitely needed to hear this!! My biopsy is in a few days and seeing as I’ve never even had a pap smear before, I’m definitely nervous. So glad you had a positive experience!

Has anyone else experienced spotting for a month? NOT pregnant by crybabysagittarius in Periods

[–]swabluish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So weird! I hope you’re able to figure it out. For me, I’ve had spotting every single day since April 2nd. Three negative pregnancy tests and no known disorders that would cause this. No other symptoms except for some minor cramping and swollen lymph nodes (but they were tender and only appeared twice for a couple of days). I’m only in my early 20’s but my mom had endometrial cancer so I have an appointment booked for Tuesday just to be safe 🫠

Rejected from nursing school and I genuinely don’t know what to do with my life by swabluish in findapath

😭😭 You are very right. I’m joining the waitlist from the program, so there’s still a teeny tiny chance I end up going there. But it’s the uncertainty that kills me. If I knew 99% nursing was right for me, I’d suck it up and work in another lab for a bit before reapplying next cycle. But as I’m typing this out now I’m realizing that no one ever knows if a path is completely fit for them, it’s just a matter of choosing something

I truly just love science and have always been interested in medicine (literally would get science textbooks for Christmas as a kid 😭), and I would love to help people. But I guess I’m open to literally any career path too.

It’s funny you mention EMT work because I was just researching that last night! I think it would be good exposure to actual medical work, and not to mention it would count as PCE if I end up deciding to do PA school. Literally the ONLY downside I can think of is seeing some really traumatic things, being a first responder and all. Not sure how I’d handle that. I’m fine with gore, but it’s moreso the emotional aspect of it

Thank you for the advice! I actually did consider med school, I think I would make a great doctor (in regards to caring about and wanting to help patients) but to be completely honest I don’t think that career suits the lifestyle I want. TOUGH work, a lot of hours, and I wouldn’t even finish school and residency until like a decade from now!

Thank you!! :,) This was the only program I had all the prereqs for. If I stick with nursing I’ll use next semester to take other prereqs and reapply to multiple programs next application cycle. I just wish I was certain on what career path is right for me!

Thank you for the advice!! I chose this program because it was the only one that I had the prereqs for. There were several others I looked at but would’ve needed to take a few classes before being able to apply. At this point I should just use next semester to complete the prereqs and then apply to a bunch of programs the next application cycle. I’m just scared of getting in too deep and then realizing nursing isn’t right for me, but better to work toward something instead of getting myself in a standstill

Yes I’m emailing them tomorrow to join! But then again I wouldn’t know if I’m in until months from now. The uncertainty really sucks, and I hate not knowing where I’ll be a year from now (or even 4 months from now)

I considered PA school briefly before applying to nursing. Honestly no idea why I chose nursing over it, and I’m wondering if being a PA would be a better fit for me. Only thing is I’d need to get 1-2,000 patient contact hours before applying 🫠
