They are edible! I plan to experiment at some point with ways to preserve the color. Perhaps oil packing?🤔

This is one of my favorite photos from last year. It is Laccaria calospora. Our local amethyst deceiver. Very common, but beautiful. I took this with my OMD EM1 MARK II, M. Zuiko 60mm Macro lens, AK Diffuser, and GODOX v350o Flash. It was made by focus stacking about 40-50 images. More shots can be seen on my insta, happy to answer any questions!

Yes the pad uses conventional magnets and electromagnets. The magnets are strong enough to support the bowl, but need the electromagnets to keep it centered.

You can find them all over amazon or ebay. Just search magnetic levitation pad

Thank you I really appreciate that. Yes the bark veneer is an art form my dad has perfected over many years and taught to me. The bark is harvested the traditional way, as it has been for thousands of years. It takes a special technique in the spring to cut sections of just the outer layer so as not to kill the tree. Then we store them in scrolls and steam and weight them to flatten before use.

Thank you very much! That means a lot. I am a second generation woodworker who has learn from my (mostly) self-taught father. I have only been doing this for a few years now and have no formal training so your comment means a lot. It is hard to know which things I am doing might be considered novice, etc.

I do not know if it comes tinted, but this is the regular satin. The oil base gives it those warmer tones. I love it for figured wood. Sand your birdseye to 220 or even higher. Apply heavy, let sit for a minute or so, then wipe off the remnants with a rag. 24 hours later hit it with a sanding sponge and repeat with another coat, also wiped off with a clean rag. By 3 coats it looks great, 5+ and you get an excellent pop.

You can buy a similar magnet pad and magnet to go with it on ebay or amazon. This one was $40. The bottom of the bowl is carved out to accept the magnet.

The finish is Arm R seal oil based satin varnish. I am a fan, though I’d like to find a natural varnish that i like as much.

The other commenter is correct, roasted maple is oven baked maple! Very brittle and hard to work with, but pretty.

Thank you so much! I really appreciate that. I spent the extra time for her on every detail.

It has no hum while running, but makes some really cool humming sounds as you remove or center the bowl to kind of guide you in.

Quite a bit! Probably 20-30 rings the size of the ones in there.

Edit: probably even more actually. It holds 500 grams total and the bowl is quite light.
