If you’re team Mary and anti Georgie, you have terrible morals. Change my mind. by CarefulAverage1011 in GeorgieandMandyTVshow

[–]Realmetman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will probably get downvoted here but its all good..

I have no issue with what Georgie did.

I look at it like this. Mary is an adult and has the right to do whatever she wants despite the impact her decisions have on Georgie. She made it abundantly clear that she is willing to do just that despite how much Georgie objects. And Georgie is a father who has a right to keep his children away from anyone (aside from Mandy obviously) despite what impact his decisions have on that person. So, in my mind they are doing the exact same thing.

That episode actually resonated with me quite a bit. I have a tough relationship with my mother. We can't be in a room for 5 minutes with one another without arguing. But, I just had a child not long ago, childcare is absurdly expensive and, my mother is retired. I dreaded asking my mother to watch my child while I go to work as my mother loves to make things difficult. I was totally prepared to tell her if she did not want to watch my child while I went to work she would not be in the child's life at all. In the end, my mother did not object and easily agreed to watch my child.. but I was prepared for the conversation to go a different way.

Brother HL-L2465DW or HL-L2460DW ? by Gullible_Print_5942 in printers

If you might need scanning or copying buy the 2465.. if you will only use it to print but the 2460.

Brother HL-L2465DW or HL-L2460DW ? by Gullible_Print_5942 in printers

[–]Realmetman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not true.. at all.. lol

First, the 2460 does support PCL.

Secondly, while the 2465 is GDI, which means yes the driver (on the computer) does the work to raster the image, Brother "not supporting it" means nothing. You download the driver at install and you are fine. Even without the driver it is Mopria and AirPrint compatible.. so even if Brother completely removed the drivers you would still be able to print in both Windows and Mac environments.. as well as mobile usage on iOS and Android.

Just a horrible and incorrect statement from you.. and almost all lower end printers are GDI.

You keep wording it like you can cancel at any time but if you can't use the printer in the same way that you originally bought it

Again, so this is where you need to separate HP+ from HP Instant Ink.

HP Instant Ink is fully cancelable and you can go back to using your printer the same way you originally intended after you cancel it.

Where you are getting confused is around HP+. HP does cause some confusion here because they use free time of HP Instant Ink as a carrot to get you to agree to HP+. If you want to say *this* is deceitful that is a separate argument and one that I might actually agree with you on. But my post was about just the subscription programs.. not HP+. This post was meant to be more than just HP subscription. Brother, Canon and Epson also offer their own version of subscription and this post was meant to educate on those programs. None of these other manufactures have anything like HP+ so this is a non issue when discussing those programs.

Just to be abundantly clear.. you can sign up for HP Instant Ink without agreeing to HP+. If you want to test HP Instant Ink and do not want to be locked into HP original cartridges simply sign up directly for Instant Ink (although you won't get the extra free time).

HP+ is not a subscription program

HP Instant Ink is a subscription program

Yes, it is true that when you AGREE to HP+ you are AGREEING to not use non HP cartridges ever on that printer. You made that agreement. You can't sign a contract with someone and then get mad when you have to live up to your part of the agreement.

HP Instant Ink can be canceled at any time. If you are unhappy with HP Instant Ink you can cancel and then go about buying cartridges... you cannot use the HP Instant Ink cartridges once you have canceled.

Connor is incredibly annoying.. I’d actually prefer they cut him out of the show.. Ruben is cool but it always throws me off that he’s the only mechanic.. how do they not have more staff.. they can’t be pulling in that much money having literally one guy that can actually do the work.

Everything you said is perfectly correct.
If you *bought* the ink.. it is yours..

For subscription you are not buying the ink.

That is exactly what you have the option of doing.. unless you sign up for subscription.. you are not buying the subscription cartridges

Is there a reason you don't want to connect it via wireless?

For wired networking you want something that has ethernet. If you have a doubt look at the spec under interfaces.

Is a tank printer worthwhile as a college student? by concertgoer305 in printers

[–]Realmetman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are you studying / what classes are you taking?

If you are mainly going to be printing text (black and white only) I would suggest a black and white laser printer. If you are going to be printing graphics and you are going to be printing a lot then yes I would go with a tank.

So I guess our complaining never did anything as one year later this is still the policy.. I will say this is a total bummer. I am going to be traveling for work but with colleagues and we will be transiting through 2 different airports (one each way of the journey) that have priority pass lounges. Now that we have no guests I can't even go.. what am I supposed to do, leave my colleagues (my boss and my bosses boss btw) in the terminal while I go into the lounge?

I have said many times on this sub that subscription programs are not for everyone and you should not join one if they aren't for you. I will tell you subscription programs are not the majority in the industry. The vast majority of consumers do not use subscription.

I’m confused. You talk about laser printers, but then you bring up EcoTank, which is inkjet technology. None of the tank products from any manufacturer have a subscription plan like the one described above for their tank printers. HP does have its All‑In Plan, but that is something a little different, and I don’t want to go down that rabbit hole. They do offer the first type of subscription (automatic reordering) but not a monthly subscription. If you buy an EcoTank, the monthly subscription type isn’t even offered.

Going back to lasers and subscription plans: I believe the only manufacturer that even offers a monthly subscription plan for color laser printers is Brother. I don’t believe either HP or Canon offers subscription plans for color laser printers, and Epson doesn’t make color laser printers at all. Even Brother (which does *offer* subscriptions for their color laser devices) does not force customers into them on any product. It is completely optional.

If you want some help on what to decide just let me know. But I will not suggest specific products or brands as once again I do not want to disclose who I work for. But, I am willing to help as much as possible.

That’s a really poor comparison. A more accurate analogy using your labor example would be the relationship between you and your employer. You work for your employer and, in return, receive a paycheck. What you’re effectively advocating for is stopping work while still expecting to be paid. Perhaps you should try that approach and let us know how it works out. Maybe you’re onto something.

Or, let's reverse that example. Your employer pays you. In return you provide your employer your labor. If your employer stops paying you are you going to continue to work for them?

So what does "for 6 months" mean to you exactly. Maybe the marketing can be changed. How would you word providing a consumer something for a limited time that they will have to pay for after the trial is over if they want to continue using it?

So, you are the type of customer I would say would not benefit from a subscription program. Someone who prints the opposite of you (high coverage per page) would do very well.. but someone in your position would do better to buy transactionally (buying ink / toner as you need it).

All machines that I know of still have this option. I don't know of any product from any manufacturer that requires you to use a subscription.

I would also add, if you are printing a fair amount.. don't buy a super low end product. Typically, the cheaper the printer the higher the consumables cost is. Those $39 Black Friday models will crush you in ink cost.
