Rabbits are a species in the Animal Crossing series who appear both as villagers and as a special character. They have straight, upright ears and small, spherical tails.

Twenty-two rabbit villagers have appeared in the series so far, along with one rabbit special character. Out of the rabbit villagers, twelve are female and ten are male, making it a predominantly female species. Of these, eight are peppy, five are lazy, two are smug, two are jock, two are snooty, one is normal, one is cranky, and one is big sister. O'Hare was originally a cranky islander before becoming a smug villager in Animal Crossing: New Leaf.

Due to Claude and Hopkins returning in the Animal Crossing: New Leaf - Welcome amiibo update, the rabbit, along with the horse and the tiger, is the second villager species in which all of the villagers of that species appear in the same game together after Doubutsu no Mori e+, the first being the octopus. All of the rabbits who appear in Animal Crossing: New Horizons also appear in Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp. Toby was initially absent in New Horizons, but he reappeared in the 1.9.0 Free Update.
