August is the eighth month of the year. It is the last month of summer in the northern hemisphere, and is considered the peak for bugs, fishes, and sea creatures. It is also the last month of winter in the southern hemisphere, where all the snow completely melts by August 25.

August is dominated by the Fireworks Show, an event that only occurs during the weekends and is a celebration of traditional summer festivities across the world.

Fireworks Show	Doubutsu no Mori/Wild World: August 1, 8, 15, 22, and 29 City Folk/New Leaf/New Horizons: August 2, 9, 16, and 23	Doubutsu no Mori Wild World City Folk New Leaf New Horizons	The August nights come alive in the town with a fireworks display. The player can receive items from Tortimer, Isabelle, or Redd to celebrate the night sky.
Meteor Shower	August 12	Animal Crossing	Watch the meteor shower and talk to Tortimer, who will give the player a Telescope for attending.
Bug-Off	Wild World: August 16 City Folk/New Leaf: August 15 New Horizons (Northern Hemisphere): August 22	Wild World City Folk New Leaf New Horizons	A Bug-Catching competition hosted by either Nat or Flick.
Founder's Day	August 21	Animal Crossing	An event that celebrates the creation of the town, Tortimer will give the player a Weed Model.
