A founding member of the chart‑topping contemporary jazz supergroup Fourplay, Nathan East was only sixteen when he landed his first major break on the road with Barry White. Not long after, Quincy Jones called—and the momentum never stopped.

Over the next four decades, East became one of the most recorded bassists in music history, appearing on more than 2,000 sessions and shaping hit songs with icons including Eric Clapton, George Harrison, Michael Jackson, Phil Collins, Whitney Houston, Beyoncé, Barbra Streisand, and Stevie Wonder.

His long‑running touring partnership with Eric Clapton, combined with his signature, genre‑crossing groove, has earned him global recognition—including a Congressional Record honoring his contributions to the music community—and the deep respect of his peers.

East’s versatility is reflected in his presence on landmark albums as varied as Andrea Bocelli’s Passione and Daft Punk’s Random Access Memories. Beyond the stage and studio, he designs signature instruments and gear, teaches online bass sessions, produces voice‑over work, and is rolling out his latest musical project with his twenty-something son, pianist and organist Noah East.
