About Federico Furzan

Federico is a writer and journalist who joined the MovieWeb family a few years ago, bringing in his years-long experience as a critic of all kinds of films, especially indies.

He's had the fortune of being part of several initiatives on the site. He's one of the hounds catching breaking news from the other side of the world, and always on the lookout for upcoming streaming releases (especially within the horror spectrum).

At the moment, Federico is focusing on writing articles for the News and Features team, but you can find his insight on lists that mostly focus on '80s cinema, classic horror, and true crime. Before joining MovieWeb, he navigated as a blogger, and eventually, found himself becoming a film critic. You can read some of his reviews on Rotten Tomatoes.

Author Details

Federico has been writing about movies for more than 10 years, and his work has been featured on sites like Next Best Picture, Film Cred, Go See Talk, and Movie Blogger.

He obtained a Film Producer Certificate from an obscure academy, but it was enough to push him toward making shorts. After he started to write about films, he complemented his studies with a Copywriting and Editing Certificate. Although this education helps, he believes in the Tarantino method, which is based on watching and studying movies.

Favorite Media

- Terminator 2: Judgment Day is the movie he loves the most. He has written a story about the day he saw it.

- Close Encounters of the Third Kind is the best movie he has ever seen. Doesn't love the Special Edition.

- Stephen King is a huge part of his life, and feels proud to have had the author himself retweet one of his MovieWeb articles about Storm of the Century.

- His love for film criticism began when he started reading Roger Ebert's quite heavy yearbooks. And even wrote Roger a couple of emails, to which the legendary critic actually replied, showing his support.

- He only has nightmares when he sees Michael Myers on the screen, or the ghostly children in Silent Hill.

- His heroes include his dad (also a film critic), Steven Spielberg, Wes Craven, Alfred Hitchcock, and Quentin Tarantino. Favorite actors include Clifton Collins Jr., Ben Foster, Olivia Colman, and Jonathan Tucker, among many others.
