| “ | Hello, and welcome to Nintendo Land! I am Monita, your park guide. | ” | — Monita |
Monita is a character introduced in the 2012 Wii U game Nintendo Land. She speaks in a robotic voice, with her name being a pun on an electronic monitor. Her role is to introduce the player to 12 different attractions in the game based on various Nintendo franchises, explaining the rules and controls during the tutorials. Additionally, Monita portrays a version of herself in multiple attractions, such as Princess Monita in Takamaru's Ninja Castle and Dark Monita in Pikmin Adventure and Metroid Blast. Monita also commentates on gameplay in several attractions. Monita is voiced by Emily Bauer in the American English version.
In Nintendo Land
When first playing the game or creating a new save file, a Mii spawns into an empty Nintendo Land Plaza. Shortly afterwards, a ? Block appears with Monita inside, asking the player "would you mind letting me out of here?". Once the player touches the box on the GamePad, Monita introduces herself and teaches practice exercises. These require the player to learn the basic controls by moving the GamePad around to follow Monita's movements, as well as learn how to jump and move the camera. Afterwards, Monita summons a ? Block that when opened, creates the Central Tower of the Nintendo Land Plaza. On the tower, Monita finishes the tutorial by introducing the attractions, allowing the player to try any attraction.
Monita's face is featured on the top of the Central Tower, the dropper for coins in the coin game, and the unlockable trophies for each attraction. When the player obtains a star attraction, Monita will announce their accomplishment and place a star over the attraction's gate.
Other appearances

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
Monita appears as an obtainable support sprit in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, with her spirit battle being against a cyan-colored R.O.B. The battle takes place on the Pokémon Stadium 2 stage as a reference to the Central Tower in the Nintendo Land Plaza, an elevated platform with a monitor screen in the background. Monita is given Screen-Flip Immunity, due to the use of the Wii U GamePad in attractions. Additionally, Monita can be summoned with the cores of Num Diddly from Make 10: A Journey of Numbers and Ando Kensaku from And-Kensaku, since both spirits contain square faces and Ando Kensaku shares a monitor for a face. She can also be purchased in the Vault Shop for 1,000 gold.
