This wish has been archived as it is a duplicate of Make Show Preview button work in protected pages
Sometimes, more often than not, I want to edit a protected template or module to see what effects the change will have on a page that transcludes it directly or through some other template or module. For unprotected module/template that's easy without saving anything, because there's "Preview page with this template". Working with sandboxes to test things is hard for quick prototyping because a lot of other files may be involved. So why not allow editing and testing all templates and modules (with a nice warning from the start)?
Example: I wanna see how some settings in c:Module:I18n/complex date will affect some examples in c:Template:Complex date/doc
