The Valo system was an inhabited planetary system in the Alpha Quadrant.

Components[]

Stellar system[]

This was a single star system. The primary star Valo was a G-type dwarf.

Planetary system[]

The system had three M-class planets, designated as Valo I, Valo II, and Valo III. These planets were located in the system's habitable zone.

History[]

In the 24th century, this system was on the outskirts of Cardassian territory.

In the middle of this century, many Bajoran refugees fled to this system during the Occupation of Bajor and settled on these planets. There was also a Bajoran settlement on the third moon of Valo I.

The USS Enterprise-D entered the system in 2368 to investigate a possible terrorist threat from resistance leader Orta to the Federation. (TNG: "Ensign Ro")

Stellar cartography[]

In 3196, during the Omega-47 crisis, the location of Valo was depicted on star charts and readouts used across several locations on the USS Athena to locate, monitor, and respond to the Omega-47 mines laid by the Venari Ral. This system was outside the affected region. (SA: "Rubincon")

Appendices[]

Background information[]

This system's quadrant of origin was inferred based on the position of the Cardassian Union in the star chart appearing in the Star Trek: Picard episode "Maps and Legends".

In the script, the pronunciation for Valo was "VAH-lo". [1]

In the Star Trek: Star Charts (p. 47) and Stellar Cartography: The Starfleet Reference Library ("Federation Historical Highlights, 2161-2385"), the Valos system was shown to be near the Federation-Cardassian border and, by the late 24th century, to be an independent system. Information on the system's primary came from these sources.

The system's primary's name came from StarTrek.com. [2](X)
