Papaya has three kinds of flowers:
staminate, pistillate and hermaphrodite.
The pecan is a monoecious plant, having separate
staminate and pistillate inflorescences on the same plant; however, it has a mechanism so-called dichogamy.
Olive flowers were observed at full bloom stage for
staminate and perfect flower and then tepercentage of perfect flowers was calculated as;
A total of 25
staminate and 25 pistillate individuals were selected and marked along a trail of approximately 1 km in length.
Key words: Pumpkin,
staminate and pistillate flowers, effective pollinators, single visit efficacy.
Anatomy of
staminate flower ontogeny of the pecan as determined by scanning electron microscopy.
Its species have diurnal, slightly thermogenic flowers with thick petals and a closed floral chamber where beetles of the genus Colopterus can hide during the pistillate phase and are released the second day of anthesis during the
staminate phase.
Immature leaf materials collected from sample of adult pistilate and
staminate plants after complete observation of flower types were used for DNA extraction.
The male, or
staminate flowers, grow just above the female flowers and produce the pollen.
Keltonia balli (Knight) (Hemiptera: Miridae: Phylinae): a rarely collected specialist on
staminate flowers of the dioecious shrub Florida rosemary (Ceratiola ericoides Michx.; Ericaceae).
The upper flowers are
staminate whereas lower ones are pistillate (Figures 1A, B).The scanning electron microscopic analysis revealed that fruit is a globular schizocarp measuring 2.2 x 2.5 mm having smooth surface architecture with four deep longitudinal sutures and a square shaped scar on upper side having four elongated points, which are the remains of the stigmas (Figure 1C).
