α-to·coph·er·ol (α-T),
(tō-kof'ĕr-ol),One of several forms of vitamin E. A light yellow, viscous, odorless, oily liquid that deteriorates on exposure to light, is obtained from wheat germ oil or by synthesis, biologically exhibits the most vitamin E activity of the α-tocopherols, and is an antioxidant retarding rancidity by interfering with the autoxidation of fats.

(ăl′fə-tō-kŏf′ə-rôl′, -rōl′)n.
An alcohol, C29H50O2, that is one of the components of vitamin E and is present in vegetable oils, nuts, and seeds or produced synthetically. It is the predominant form of vitamin E in the human body and in supplements.
