Minett
In the south of Luxembourg, known as the Red Lands or the Minett, the region owes its name to the reddish color of its soil, linked to the presence of iron ore that dominates the landscape. It is an area deeply shaped by its rich steelmaking past.
Even today, many remnants remain visible in the landscape, turning the territory into a true open-air museum where nature has gradually reclaimed its rights. Former industrial wastelands have found new life as cultural spaces, urban neighborhoods, and educational sites.
As part of this dynamic renewal, the Minett has quite literally transformed from red land into a true land of science, becoming a major hub of innovation and research. Thanks to its varied landscape, the south also offers numerous opportunities for outdoor leisure activities. Popular festivals, music and art festivals, concerts, and exhibitions all contribute to the vibrant cultural life of the region.
