The Proceedings of the Linguistic Society of America (PLSA) publishes papers based on presentations delivered at the Annual Meeting of the Linguistic Society of America (LSA). The goal of PLSA is to increase the impact of the Annual Meetings, and to give Annual Meeting presenters an opportunity to broaden the reach of their research. Publication in PLSA serves as the version of record of an Annual Meeting presentation and provides durable access to the research.

PLSA was first published in 2016 and was hosted on LSA's Open Journal Systems platform. That arrangement will continue through the 2026 volume of PLSA.

PLSA 2026

Abstracts for talks and posters selected for presentation at the Annual Meeting of the LSA undergo double-blind peer review. Authors whose abstracts were selected for presentation at the 2026 Annual Meeting are invited after the conference to submit an article that presents the conclusion(s) and claim(s) of their research, as stated in the accepted abstract. The articles themselves do not undergo further peer review, although the editorial team reserves the right to ask for revisions and to reject submissions for good reason.

PLSA 2027 - Peer Reviewed and Published by Cambridge

Starting in 2027, PLSA will be published through Cambridge University Press. This new arrangement will increase the impact and usability of articles published in PLSA, as well as providing a modern and fully searchable platform that hosts many other highly regarded publications in linguistics, including Language, Phonological Data and Analysis, and the Journal of Black Language and Culture. PLSA will continue to be an open access publication, with no financial barriers to publication of accepted papers.

Papers and posters presented at the 2027 Annual Meeting in San Francisco will be eligible for submission and possible publication in PLSA 2027.
