1. slang To meet with or join someone. I'm running late, so I'll just hook up with you guys there. I know you're busy this afternoon, but do you want to hook up with us after the movie? Lila said she has a headache, but she'll try to hook up with us tonight.
2. slang To work together with someone. Yeah, but if you hooked up with Joe, you guys could pool your resources and really get some stuff done in this town. You need to hook up with an investor and get some financial backing if you want to see your invention in stores. Hook up with the mayor if you want people to take your initiative seriously.
3. slang To have a casual sexual encounter with someone. I can't believe you hooked up with my ex-boyfriend! A: "So when are you gonna tell Marcy you hooked up with her new boyfriend?" B: "Never, because that meant nothing and happened way before they were dating!" I don't like hooking up with guys. I prefer to have actual, meaningful romantic relationships.
