come after (someone or something)
1. To be positioned sequentially after someone or something else. Oh, my exit comes after the one we just passed, so we're almost there. Hey, these files aren't in alphabetical order. Last I checked, "V" comes after "U." OK, number 14, come here—you'll come after Max, who's number 13.
2. To pursue or seek out someone or something. The police will come after you once they find out you were involved in this crime too. The captain of the football team is gonna come after you if you keep flirting with his girlfriend like that! These guys don't mess around. If you don't pay them back, they'll have one of their thugs come after you!
3. To be a lesser concern than someone or something else. Your schoolwork needs to be your main focus—all of your commitments to sports and extracurriculars come after that. Why is it that your needs and wants always come after hers? What kind of relationship is that? You're sick, so rest should be your top priority. Everything else can come after that.
