1. To bestow something favorable upon someone, as of a gift from God. The Lord has blessed us with fine weather during the harvest season. I can't believe God has blessed us with three beautiful, healthy children! God blessed the Israelites with manna from heaven after they fled Egypt.
2. To anoint someone with something during a religious ritual. The priest blessed the baby with holy oil during the baptism ceremony. After my confession, the priest blessed me with the sign of the cross. My mother is not doing well at all. I think we should have a priest come and bless her with last rites.
