1. Of two people, having no debts between them. Thank you for paying me back—now we're all square. A: "Are you still paying Sadie back for that money she loaned you?" B: "Nope, we're all square." Didn't you pay me back the last time I saw you? I thought we were all square.
2. sports Having equal scores. With time winding down, we're all square at 3–3. The next goal could win it! It doesn't matter how formidable our opponents are on paper—when the game starts, we're all square. It was all square for only the first two minutes, thanks to a goal by the home team.
