Waldrep (elbow) allowed no hits and walked two batters over two scoreless innings during a rehab start Monday in the rookie-level Florida Complex League. Waldrep tossed 26 pitches (14 strikes) in his first official game action since September, after he ended up missing all of spring training and the first two-plus months of the season while recovering from a Feb. 23 arthroscopic procedure to remove loose bodies from his right elbow. The 24-year-old is expected to need close to the entire 30-day rehab window to build up his pitch count and iron out his control and command, so he's unlikely to re-emerge as an option for the Atlanta rotation until late June.

Latest Braves News
Hurston Waldrep : Works two scoreless frames in rehab
Carlos Carrasco : Remains in organization
Atlanta outrighted Carrasco to Triple-A Gwinnett on Monday. Carrasco passed through waivers after being removed from the 40-man roster, and it appears he's agreed to an outright assignment to remain in the organization. The veteran right-hander has pitched well in his limited chances with the major-league club in 2026, permitting two runs with a 4:0 K:BB over 7.1 innings.
Anthony Molina : Moved to Triple-A
Atlanta optioned Molina to Triple-A Gwinnett on Monday. Molina was in the bullpen this past weekend in Cincinnati but didn't make an appearance. Atlanta will announce a corresponding roster move prior to Tuesday's game versus the Blue Jays.
Hurston Waldrep : Kicking off rehab assignment
Waldrep (elbow) will begin a rehab assignment in the rookie-level Florida Complex League team Monday. Waldrep is set for his first game action since he had surgery in late February to remove loose bodies from his pitching elbow. Per Grant McAuley of the Marietta Daily Journal, president of baseball operations Alex Anthopoulos said recently that Waldrep has been throwing in the mid-to-high 90s, so the right-hander already regained his velocity post-operation. Waldrep will likely require most, if not all, of his allotted 30 days on a rehab assignment before rejoining Atlanta's roster around July 1.
Ronald Acuña : Goes deep again in loss
Acuna went 2-for-3 with a home run, two walks and two RBI in Sunday's 6-4 loss to the Reds. Acuna took Nick Lodolo deep to lead off the game, homering in four straight games for the fourth time in his career. It's safe to say the 28-year-old is in a groove, as he's left the yard five times and stolen four bases during that four-game stretch. According to Mike Petraglia of MLB.com, he became just the fourth player in major-league history to accomplish that feat. For the year, the superstar is slashing .253/.380/.441 with seven long balls, 21 RBI, 27 runs scored and 12 steals across 208 plate appearances.
Spencer Strider : Suffers first loss Sunday
Strider (3-1) took the loss against the Reds on Sunday, allowing four runs (three earned) on seven hits and two walks with eight strikeouts over five innings. Strider only threw one scoreless frame despite generating 13 whiffs on 90 pitches and keeping the ball in the yard. It marked the sixth straight outing to open his campaign in which the 27-year-old limited opponents to three earned runs or fewer, though he has completed six innings just twice during that stretch. He'll carry a 3.77 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 40:17 K:BB across 31 innings into a home matchup against the Pirates next weekend.
Jorge Mateo : Settling into regular role
Mateo will start at designated hitter and bat seventh in Sunday's game against the Reds. Mateo will stick in the lineup for a fifth straight game Sunday, this time handling a non-defensive role after his prior three starts came at shortstop. Atlanta could continue to move forward with Mateo as its primary option at shortstop over Ha-Seong Kim, who is in the lineup Sunday but may be ticketed for a part-time role after slashing just .095/.191/.095 over his 47 plate appearances since being activated from the injured list May 11. Mateo, meanwhile, has been much more productive when called upon this season, generating an .845 OPS while going 7-for-8 on stolen-base attempts in 81 plate appearances. With his playing time on the rise, Mateo could be worth a look for fantasy managers looking to make up ground in the steals category in particular.
Michael Yastrzemski : Idle against southpaw
Yastrzemski is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Reds. The left-handed-hitting Yastrzemski started in the first two games of the series and went 3-for-6 with a double, two walks, two RBI and a run, but he'll hit the bench Sunday while lefty Nick Lodolo takes the hill for the Reds. Mauricio Dubon will spell Yastrzemski in left field and will bat fifth.
