Thanks Klaus. I had previously noted the above PWD excerpts but I was not completely sure of the location as there were latrines as well on the south side of Hennessy Road next to the market over Bowrington Canal. Thus, I had not entered the completion date.
Hi moddsey. I didn't know that there were two latrines nearby. However, I think the PWR excerpts refer to the place you created.
Looking on maps in hkmaps.hk, the latrine south of Hennessy Road is much smaller and would not fit the size mentioned in the PWR.
On 9 May 1930, the Hongkong Government Gazette published a statement to build a public latrine "over Bowrington Canal and east of inland lot No. 2626". The 1938 street index shows I.L. 2626 at the western corner of Hennessy and Canal Road (East and West). "East of inland lot No. 2626" is exactly the place expected.
This, of course, is not a 100% proof, but (I think) close to it.
