Saphroneth's smaller snippets

I know that in Legends there was something like "if you clone a Force-sensitive, they'll go the bad kind of crazy", but a) I don't know if that holds in current canon, and b) the more important issue is would the characters BELIEVE that to be an issue, since that determines how they'd react.
I was thinking more of the reverse. That they'd taken a mundane donor (the Chancellor has a Perfectly Normal Midichlorian count, remember?) and somehow managed to make them Force Sensitive, possibly via Sith Alchemy, and also evil. Or maybe they figured out how to put a Sith into a cloned body? Anyway however it was done, the upshot was that this "darth sidious" they were having so much trouble with was in fact the mastermind behind the CIS and the clones and the creation of the post of supreme chancellor, and obviously planned on using his puppet clone/new body to step in and take over.

Basically they reach almost the right conclusion using the wrong variables and a slightly flawed methodology.

Jedi master jorus c'baoth was not exactly a towering pinnacle of sanity and beacon of the light before he was cloned-joruus lost the plot before even trying to clone Luke and was a dark Jedi master(sith have different teachings).
This is WHY you inform your side that there is a VIP Hostage onboard one of the ships in a battle! ASAP!!
As palpatine said sacrifices must be made to win the war-but I don't think this is what he meant, on the other hand this would remove both dooku and grevious

"I think that meeting went well," Obi-Wan said. "It's a shame you weren't appointed Master, though."

"I think I should be a Master," Anakin muttered. "I've defeated a Sith Lord."

"You would be the youngest ever," Obi-Wan pointed out. "I can understand the Council's reluctance."

Anakin glanced at him. "Does that mean you agree with them?"

"It means that I think being a Master would offer challenges you haven't yet had the chance to face," Obi-Wan replied. "Being a Master is more than just a title… I sometimes wish I wasn't one."

Both their commlinks chirped at once.

"I wonder what that is," Obi-Wan said, taking his out. "Maybe it's the droid attack on the Wookiees."

"Master Ki-Adi-Mundi is always going on about that," Anakin said.

A string of binary came out of Obi-Wan's commlink, and he looked at it in polite bafflement.

"I'm not an expert, but… that was profane, wasn't it?" he asked. "R2-D2 has an incredibly foul mouth for a droid from Naboo."

"Yeah, he does that," Anakin agreed. "I wonder what these records are he's boasting about… he really seems to think we should watch them."

Taking out his own commlink, he beeped expertly into it.

"R2 does understand Basic, doesn't he?" Obi-Wan said.

"Yeah, but I'm working on my accent," Anakin explained, getting another string of beeps in return. "Okay, he says he'll meet us in conference room fourteen, one level down from the hangar."

"All right, what's this about, exactly?" Obi-Wan asked, as he and Anakin entered the room. "I'm curious, and I've got some time before I have to leave… it doesn't do me any good to arrive on Utapau before Cody's ready to drop in."

"You don't need to explain that to me, Master," Anakin chuckled, then R2 provided a litany of beeping noises.

His expression changed slightly, and he glanced at Obi-Wan. "I guess… that's probably helpful, right?"

"What is?" Obi-Wan replied.

"R2 said he managed to extract a lot of the archives from the Invisible Hand before we left," Anakin translated. "He managed to find something we need to see."

"I should have brought us some snacks," Obi-Wan said, and his former padawan sniggered.

The windows went dim as R2 polarized them, then his projector lit up, and the two Jedi watched as an image appeared – Palpatine, Anakin, Obi-Wan and Count Dooku.

"Well, this is going to be embarrassing…" Obi-Wan muttered. "But we may as well treat it as a learning opportunity, I suppose. Feel free to explain in great detail exactly how I screwed up."

Anakin didn't reply, feeling guilty in a way he wasn't sure he knew how to put into words, and the battle played out.

The angle wasn't great, but it caught Obi-Wan being knocked out, and it also caught when Anakin cut off one of Dooku's hands and retrieved his lightsaber.

"Good," the Chancellor said, a chuckle to his voice, then continued pleasantly. "Kill him."

Obi-Wan did a double-take. "What?"

R2 obligingly paused the recording.

"Did he just say that?" Obi-Wan asked. "Anakin, did the Chancellor really say that?"

"It made more sense at the time," Anakin replied.

R2 rewound a few seconds, showing them Palpatine's instruction a second time, then the Chancellor continued. "Kill him now."

Not sure what to say or how to process that, Obi-wan watched as Anakin struggled with the question. Pushed back… then, ultimately, complied with Palpatine's instruction on a third order.

A moment later, R2 cut forwards, to when Palpatine had told Anakin to leave Obi-Wan to die and Anakin had insisted on picking up his friend and master.

Then the projector dimmed.

"...well," Obi-Wan said, eventually.

"Say it, Master," Anakin began. "I should have-"

"You should have done what, Anakin?" Obi-Wan replied. "Told me about this? I'm not sure I believe what I just heard, so I can certainly forgive you for that."

He shook his head. "About the only way I can see it being justified is if… maybe the Chancellor isn't comfortable with taking a Sith prisoner. Imprisoning a powerful, evil user of the Force is very difficult, and giving him a trial wouldn't be easy either."

After a moment, Obi-Wan put his hand on Anakin's. "I wish we had time to properly meditate about this, to let you accept what happened and work through how you feel, but – we don't have time before I have to leave for Utapau. After I get back?"

"All right, Master," Anakin decided, with a nod.

An extremely crowded day later, Anakin ran into the Chancellor's apartment.

"Anakin, help me!" Palpatine cried, as he fended off Mace Windu with lightning bolts.

"So…" Anakin began, glancing at Master Windu. "Shouldn't you be arresting him?"

"They're trying to murder me, Anakin!" Palpatine wailed.

"We tried arresting him," Windu replied, speaking over Palpatine. "There's no way to give him a trial!"

Anakin thought about that for about a second.

"Seems legit," he said, and stabbed Palpatine in the side.

The Chancellor fell off the building, and Mace half-fell against the windowsill as he watched.

A flare of purple Force energy rippled against them, and Mace sighed in relief.

Then looked up at Anakin.

"I'm not complaining," he began. "But you made that decision very suddenly."

"I was just glad to have a simple moral problem," Anakin replied, shrugging a bit defensively. "I thought, what would the Chancellor tell me to do in this situation, and he said, do it."

Mace looked between Anakin and the window.

"...sure," he said. "I'll take it."

I was expecting R2 to have gotten records of Tyranus having talked to Sidious as Sith Apprentice to Sith Master. But this is good too.

Anakin going "what would the chancellor want me to do?" and then immediately doing something Palpatine would hate is hilarious.

Although creatively interpreting lessons is a strength of Anakin's - Palps is lucky he didn't train him from the get go Anakin might have accidentally ended up as the single most patient and chill Jedi Master Sith Lord ever.

I see Palpatine is still guzzling Sith Lord Explodium by the gallon.

Really, does any Sith besides Sidious explode when they die? I mean, Maul and Anakin came back as cyborgs.

Granted, Dooku died and didn't even get a little crabwalker droid body for him to skitter around as a head. Missed opportunity there...

One Star Wars omake I want to see is a version of the last Jedi where the New Republic is freaking ****ed.

The star killer base has triggered everyone Alderaan flash backs, right when they hoped the war was over. They knew they were abandoning people to the first order but they were tired of war, and it got them their planet wrecked.

The whole firing of star killer base is like Pearl Harbor, nine eleven rolled into one.

It kind of be what happened in the rise of skywalker, but much earlier where the new republic, goes full total war footing, every industry turned into making guns to point at the first order. They fear just how a second Death Star was made, the first order is only going to escalate.

We are going to see something like stellaris menace cruisers, where they are just slapped together from whatever the new republic got, maybe a bi droid is slapped in and they are made to kamikaze the first order.

I had a though for an explodium explanation.
Palpatine is so against the philosophy of the Rule of Two that he set it up to kill any apprentice that manages to kill him in a final act of spite. Despite that being essentially the ideal end for a Banite Sith Master. He is just unfortunate* that every time he dies his body is nowhere near his killer.
*Or a collective of Banite force ghosts are making that plan go wrong intentionally.

This is my favourite part. Both because of the idea of binary being a language Anakin took the time to learn how to speak AND because of the implication that there's droids out there that only know binary

New headcanon, a) because it makes sense, and b) because the image of a whole bunch of evil ghosts screwing this one guy over, that's hilarious to me.

"Yeah, but I'm working on my accent," Anakin explained
That is such an Anakin thing to say…

Personally I like the idea that this is the dark side version of your body outright vanishing when you die thing that light side masters do. Only instead of being so steeped in the natural flow of the force that you join with it bodily, you're so soaked in unnatural violence that your sudden lack of will causes it to all escape at once.

Has anyone mentioned that they were originally supposed to have fire when Obi-Wan vanished, but they couldn't make it work because the robes always caught fire? It'd be funny if that happened to lightsiders who botch it, and the Sith always just botch it badly.

In isolation I find it hard to buy a single speech causing this sort of out-and-out rebellion, but I could absolutel;y see it working if there was more background work done prior to it. If we had little scenes showing Stormtroopers are starting to question orders, or get restless, or talk about Finn. Something more than just the random encounter with a group of rebel Stormtroopers to make it clear that Finn was just (one of) the first, and that the rest of the troopers only need that last push to begin breaking out of their brainwashing.

The films suffer too much from changing directors to put together that sort of plot thread (among the myriad of other issues they have), but fanfiction doesn't have that limitation.
I genuinely thought that's what was going to happen in Episode 8. Finn felt like he was going to be set up as the first of the rebellion amongst the First ORder, but... no. No. WE didn't get that arc.

He didn't get that arc.

And only fans will show what could've been through fanfic.

"R2 said he managed to extract a lot of the archives from the Invisible Hand before we left,"
I thought it was going to be the conversation dooku had with palpatine
Now I am wondering if Luke skywalker can put his redemption hat on and redeem all of the evil banite ghosts thus saving the galaxy from the Sith returning,
In kotor you can redeem a single dead Sith Lord-just because they're ghosts doesn't mean you can't talk to them

"Hmm…" Obi-Wan said, to himself, then looked up as Anakin entered the apartment.

"How are you?" he asked. "You were… doing your mechanics lessons, I think?"

"Yeah," his newly minted padawan agreed. "I mean… yes, Master."

Obi-Wan swallowed slightly.

"I wanted to talk about that, actually," he replied. "But, firstly… did you do anything good?"

Anakin didn't look like the first statement had made him feel any less apprehensive, but after some consideration he nodded.

"I helped fix an astromech," he said. "Master Koresh said he'd given up on expecting me to keep up with the rest of the students because I'm way ahead of them on mechanics… he said he might have me teach the lessons some time. That'd be cool, I guess."

"I'd like to see that," Obi-Wan admitted. "Now, Anakin… there's something I came across recently, just today. A realization, I think – and it's made me think again about something important."

"What is it, Master?" Anakin asked.

"That word," Obi-Wan replied. "Anakin… I don't know if Qui-Gon had realized this, and I'm only now seeing it, but… I never really saw you while you were a slave. And I'm so used to the Jedi Temple that-"

He cut himself off.

"It isn't real, for me," he said. "I don't think it's real for just about any other Jedi, either… or not for most of us. I could be wrong, but almost every Jedi joined the order so young that they haven't got an experience of slavery. Not from inside."

Anakin looked like he wasn't quite sure how to react to what he was being told.

Then he said so, as well.

"Well…" Obi-Wan began. "I did have this idea. I was looking up synonyms and so on, and I happened upon an old word that might help. That word is sensei."

Anakin frowned.

"What does it mean?" he asked.

"It means… teacher," Obi-Wan explained. "It's a title of respect, and an honorific, as well. But it's got no meaning of ownership. The way we use the word master, here in the temple, is a word that means a teacher, someone responsible for taking care of you – but it's the same word as the word for someone who owns you. And sensei doesn't have that meaning."

Anakin nodded, slowly.

"Would it be okay if I called you that?" he asked. "Or – if I called all my teachers that? And the councillors?"

"I don't know what they'd think," Obi-Wan replied. "But – I hope they will listen, if you do."
