'It was determined that the supplier of the initial replacement front passenger air bag inflator had a problem in the manufacturing process that increased the risk of inflator rupture during air bag deployment, and may cause serious injuries to vehicle occupants,' the letter read.

(HCPI) is recalling 14,074 units of the Accord, Civic, City, CR-V and Jazz vehicle models to replace airbag inflators which may pose risks to passengers.

The replacement of the affected airbag inflator under this campaign will be done FREE OF CHARGE and will require approximately an hour.

Under Mesnard's plan, the cap in 2023 would be $145 million, compared to $221.9 million if the 20 percent inflator remains intact.

In the latest update of this situation, Honda has confirmed that the Takata single stage (SDI) driver front airbag inflator ruptured in a crash on May 27, 2018 in Malaysia.

"We regret to inform that due to usage condition, the changes of temperature and longtime humidity, the propellant (ammonium nitrate) in the inflator for passenger side airbag may be deteriorated, and as a result, the inflator body may rupture at the time of airbag deployment, therefore the frontal airbag inflator has to be changed," the company said in a statement.

"We regret to inform that due to usage condition, the changes of temperature and longtime humidity, the propellant (ammonium nitrate) in the inflator for passenger side frontal airbag may be deteriorated and, as a result, the inflator body may rupture at the time of airbag deployment," said Al Habtoor Motors.

The airbag inflator casing might rupture which may result in injury or safety risk to the vehicle occupants.

The inspection and/or replacement procedure of the affected airbag inflator may take about one hour and will be free of charge.

Lateon Tuesdayit recalled Prius models and Lexus CT200h cars made from 2010 to 2012 over air bag inflators that could have a small crack in a weld, which could lead to the separation of the inflator chambers.
