Swindling
a crime consisting of acquiring another’s property or the right to such property, or obtaining any other valuables through fraud or abuse of confidence. Swindling is punishable under Soviet law. The severest penalty is applied for swindling that has to do with socialist property. Under the RSFSR Criminal Code, for example, deprivation of freedom for a term of five to 15 years may be imposed for swindling that causes major damage to the state or to a public organization.
