Sikorsky is developing autonomous and OPV technology that builds on its fly-by-wire technology to ultimately reduce the number one cause of helicopter crashes:
Controlled Flight Into Terrain (CFIT).
"These accidents are often caused by lack of proficiency and poor decision making, and they typically lead to
controlled flight into terrain, loss of control, or continued VFR flight into IMC," said Richard McSpadden, executive director at ASI.
It's easy to look at
controlled flight into terrain (CFIT) accidents as the kind you'll never get into.
The AAIU said it was an "unsafe flight path" and "the aircraft impacted terrain in
controlled flight and under normal control and there was no attempt to alter the flight path prior to impact".
Huff, whose efforts to build a machine that could engage in sustained,
controlled flight earned them regard as a "second pair of Wright brothers" according to at least one newspaper.
He posted it on a group chat with the comment: " There are victims on board." One of his friends, believed to be another pilot, then commented: " Oooh, go for it." Then another friend wrote: " please do a CFIT." In aviation jargon CFIT stands for "
controlled flight into terrain" -- in other words a controlled crash.

The lines on the clubface are to impart spin on the ball for a

He also found a serious structural defect with the main fuel tanks on another aircraft that, if left unchecked would have resulted in failure of the main fuel system leading to structural damage a fuel leak, and/or departure from
controlled flight. After a few safety incidents while conducting day water mission training with live personnel deployment, Sgt.
This is while investigators have concluded that Flight MH370 was probably not seriously damaged in the air and remained in
controlled flight for hours after contact with it was lost.
