Sila, La
a mountain massif in Calabria, in southern Italy. La Sila reaches an elevation of 1,929 m at Mount Botte Donato. It is composed primarily of granites, gneisses, and, in some places, limestones. There are thickets of Mediterranean shrub vegetation. Oak and coniferous forests are found at elevations above 1,850m.
