Zrenjanin
a city in Yugoslavia, in the northern part of the Socialist Republic of Serbia, in the autonomous region of Vojvodina. Population, 60,000 (1968). The city has a landing on the Becej River (which has been made into a canal) and is a railroad junction. Zrenjanin’s industries include flour-milling, brewing, and sugar refining, tobacco, textiles, and leather. It is also noted for river shipbuilding, agricultural and electrical-engineering machine building, the production of motors and boilers, and woodworking.
