Location:Off State Highway 5 at the Post Road exit.
Facilities:Picnic area (é), picnic shelters (é), flush toilets (é), hiking trails (18 miles), self-guided trail (1 mile), paved bike trail (5 miles), mountain bike trails (20 miles), ski trails (12 miles), skate-ski trails (6 miles), warming house, swimming beach (é), fishing pier (é), boat ramp, canoe rental, 9-hole golf course, volleyball court, playground, visitor center, interpretive exhibits, historic site, gift shop.
Activities:Swimming, lake and river fishing, boating (electric motors only), canoeing, golfing, hiking, bicycling, mountain biking, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, nature programs.
Special Features:This day-use park is located in the heart of the Twin Cities and has extensive hiking, bike, and ski trails that link to Minnehaha Park and the Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge (see separate entry in national refuges section). Visitors also can hike on Pike Island, where the Mississippi and Minnesota rivers converge, or follow the trails up to the historic Fort Snelling for a view of military life in the 1820s.
