Appleton layer
The F2 layer of the ionosphere, which is located at an approximate height of 110 to 210 miles (180–350 km). The height of this layer varies in summers and winters as well as during the day and the night. It affects daytime propagation and reflects waves from about 3 MHz to above 30 MHz.
