[edit]Literally, “shortly before narrowly”. Aliterative formation, probably an alteration of such phrases as kurz vor Schluss or kurz vor zwölf.
Adverb
[edit]- (colloquial) just in time, at the last minute, at the eleventh hour (extremely shortly before a deadline, planned event or expected consequence)
- Synonyms: gerade noch, auf den letzten Drücker
- Ich habe die Unterlagen eine halbe Stunde vor Ende der Frist eingereicht, das war wirklich kurz vor knapp.
- I sent in the documents half an hour before the deadline ended, I really barely made it just in time.
