data DVD (plural data DVDs)

  1. A portable storage drive for standard computer files (documents, raw videos, music), and is strictly meant for computer use.

Unlike video DVDs, data DVDs cannot be read by standard TV DVD players. These discs are meant for computer disk drives (DVD-ROM or DVD-RW drives).
