Etymology
[edit]Borrowed from Hebrew קַבָּלָה (kabalá, “Jewish mysticism”, literally “something received”). It refers to the notion that Kabbalah is a set of mystical doctrines received in antiquity and passed on in small circles. Doublet of cabal.
