[edit]Thankyou for creating Skipwith Hall, Skipwith but would it not make more sense to use Skipwith Hall, North Yorkshire similar to the American one Skipwith Hall (Tennessee) being disambiguated by state? York
[edit]I think that at some time in the past, you expressed interest in my arriving in York to create lists of listed buildings there. I have been forestalled; see Listed buildings in the City of York, for which lists for the centre of the city have been compiled. The format used is different from mine, and I think it is the one most often used in WP for listed buildings. I do not like it, which is why I designed my "own" format. The usual one just records facts without any descriptions. After establishing the location of the builing, IMO the importance of a short description is vital; it allows something to be said about a listed building that does not have enough interest or importance to merit a full article. Anyway I will press on; and many thanks for the articles you are writing to complement my lists - it makes what I do even more worthwhile. Peter I. Vardy (talk) 08:53, 13 January 2026 (UTC)
- I think it's a good faith attempt to add some useful information, but far inferior to your articles. As you say, short descriptions are extremely useful, and the lists are also missing many pictures which are on Commons, while the division in the unparished area could also use work - crossing the Ouse makes little sense. I would fully support, when you complete the unitary authority of North Yorkshire, reorganising these articles on the basis of wards (for the unparished area) and starting again with your format - drawing on anything you would find useful. Coordinates
[edit]I wonder if it's okay with you that when you create an article you could append the coordinates in? Currently, the Yorkshire [1] clean-up page has 86 articles needing coordinates, and about 60 are yours. Sorry, but it takes a long time to source and append the coordinates for me. Thanks. - Sorry Peter I. Vardy, I don't understand; they are listed at the link I have supplied above. It doesn't seem to have a list to link to the places that they are in. I am having to navigate to the place where the church is (for example) in the village of FOO. Click on the coordinates in that article, then start searching around for the place without coordinates. - No; we don't wish to add coordinates - the geobot appends an error message to the articles you create stating {{coordinates missing|North Yorkshire}} (or whichever particular region). I am asking that you, when you create an article, append in the coordinates as it is taking a long time to work out where exactly No. 32 Foo Lane is after the fact. Currently, the Yorkshire clean-up page now has 150 articles needing coordinates, most of which, are yours. It is taking a long time to sort these out as the Historic England listings give only a gridref, not a coordinate, so it is time consuming as I have to cross-reference elsewhere; for instance; Beverley has five areas to scour and work out where they belong. Content added to Wikipedia is backed up by reliable sources… and has been for decades. If you decide to add content without providing a source, it’s liable to be reverted. - The key word is consider. I do consider it - and regularly leave CN tags where content which needs sourcing has been in articles for some time because it wasn’t caught when it was added. However no, I will not consider leaving unsourced content on Wikipedia when it’s the responsibility of the editor adding said content to provide a source. That is a fundamental principle of Wikipedia, and I’m genuinely amazed a veteran like yourself doesn’t abide by it.

Thanks for the article on the above public house. It may have escaped your attention that the pub sadly closed for business on 10 January 2005, and was up for let/sale a few months ago. [2] [3] [4] Frankly the market is such that its return as a licenced premise seems very remote (the village's other pub, the Black Bull, also shut within the last two years).
