Very Cool Person Alert
[edit]
Welcome, and thank you for your successful edit to lighten up Ace's day! However, this is a user's talk page that intends to be fun and cool place, so please make joke edits, as you did to User:Ace.still.life. Readers looking for accurate information will not find anything there because it's a goober's userpage. User is suspected of being incredibly cool, administrators should give user an infinite supply of kittens and should appoint user to the highest level of administration there is along with User:Ace.still.life - Ace, a random autistic on the internet 12:58, 3 April 2026 (UTC)
Promotion of Rain World
[edit]Congratulations!!!
[edit]Hopefully you don't mind me creating a talk page section to say congratu-freaking-lations on the promotion of Rain World! It's such a well-written, well-sourced, well-organized, and well-presented article that I'm surprised you've never brought any other article to FAC or even GAN. For your first venture, it is amazing. Great job!!! nub :) 00:24, 8 May 2026 (UTC)
- Thank you @Nub098765, it means a lot.Ironically, I honestly dislike the process of content creation, which probably explains my lack of GAs and authored articles. It just feels like a slog for me to parse through sources and organize them into an article... which I think makes it even more special for me that I took the time to work on this particular article since February 2024. It took a lot of time and a lot of opinions from people more experienced than me. I don't think I could have done it without the amazing foundation the author @Czar made and left back in 2017. There were a lot of breaks in-between, but I'm still proud of myself. Thank you! Now I just have to think about what other article I can work on for the next two years. toby (t)(c)(rw) 00:35, 8 May 2026 (UTC)
- I can relate. Unless I'm really dedicated to a topic, I'm terrible at looking through sources. My attention enters a void from which I cannot pull it. 3 of my 6 total GANs have been improvements on foundations. Hopefully the article Fortnite Battle Royale can follow the same pipeline Rain World has with you. I wish you luck on Omori, a game which I have never played but which countless people have recommended to me. Perhaps I should play it. Anyway, again, nice job! nub :) 01:06, 8 May 2026 (UTC)
- Playing Omori was an unforgettable experience for me. I implore you to play it.And good luck with your work on Fortnite! toby (t)(c)(rw) 01:30, 8 May 2026 (UTC)
- I just might!
- And thank you!
- Have a nice day :) nub :) 03:28, 8 May 2026 (UTC)

Guest book
[edit]Hi, Tarlby ... in the Teahouse (I think it was there), you recently posted something about a guest book, but now I can't find it. At the time I noticed it, I was focused elsewhere and so I planned to come back to it.
I remember one thing about it, though, that I must share with you. Somewhere in that post of yours I was startled — but in a delightful way — to see my name mentioned in connection with some sort of inspiration you mentioned. It couldn't have come at a more perfect time because a few days earlier in the Teahouse I'd had a rare skirmish with another editor after I'd responded to a message he or she had posted with what turned out to be slightly misplaced humor, as you may have seen. I apologized and I think everything's fine now, but it was a bit painful for both the other editor, apparently, and me. So your cheery little note buried in your message was just the right medicine for me! Augnablik (talk) 05:18, 1 June 2026 (UTC)
- Hey @Augnablik! Yes, I accidentally pinged you when creating my WP:GUESTBOOK which you can see here. I included on that page various little thoughts I've written overtime on my user page, and one of them is in reference to you!And I am glad to have improved your mood with that. I hope you have a great day :) Happy editing! toby in solidarity 17:17, 1 June 2026 (UTC)
- Well, if your ping wasn't intended but it brought about a delightfully recuperative result, I'd like to nominate it for a perfect example, although in a secular setting, of the Christian saying, "O happy fault!";)
- So I see by your signature these days that you're back to Toby. Should we expect regular changes of user names, then? I guess it's one good way of keeping us mentally in shape.
- When I went to sign your guestbook, I noticed the directions were for those who use the Source editor. I'm in the minority of editors who prefer the Visual editor. I can deal with having to use the Source editor from time to time, though with gritted teeth, but just thought to squawk a little. Since joining Wikipedia and immediately gravitating to the VE, but finding myself in a definite minority among editors, I've increasingly gained sympathy for left-handers. I'm sure that with your own appreciation for humor, you can see what I was trying to say. But by the time you read this, I'll probably have succeeded in signing. - I like that proverb!I have various usernames across multiple social media sites, including Tarlby, Croissant, Toby, and Toe Beans (did you get the joke for the last one?). Out of the four, I think Toby is simply the best one. It's personal, friendly, and not too confusing like Tarlby. For the foreseeable future, I intend to keep it, because I like it :)And yes, I did get the joke. I used to always use Visual Editor when I was a newer editor, but I've slowly been using the source editor more and more as time goes on. Thank you for signing the Guestbook! toby in solidarity 20:38, 4 June 2026 (UTC)
- Toby is a nice name, though I rather liked Tarlby too.

[edit]Hi, and thanks for reviewing Baby Shaker. If it interests you, I also nominated Ahmed Al-Kaf and Favre-Leuba for GA status last year. Again, it's your choice, and I respect that! :D - OpalYosutebito 『talk』 『articles I want to eat』 07:57, 6 June 2026 (UTC)

- Thank you for all the medals you give to this band of brothers, Gog! And I see from your user page that you've performed at least 600 reviews. That sounds like a big number! toby in solidarity 11:28, 17 June 2026 (UTC)
- I guess it is, but like most big numbers it builds up a little bit at a time. I try to do a couple every week. Now on 655
. But I have nominated 79 FACs over the past eight years, so I need to have reviewed that sort of number if I am not to be a net drain on the system. I know, I know - I need to get out more. Gog the Mild (talk) 13:02, 17 June 2026 (UTC)

[edit]Please take care when accepting pending change edits; those articles are protected because of frequent editing problems. You accepted this edit, which changed the values that were supported by the cited source. I have reverted the edits, but it shouldn't have been accepted. Hope this helps! - Sorry @Schazjmd; WP:PCR does not require that reviewers verify the sourcing for edits, and that
reviewers do not take responsibility for the correctness of edits they accept
except for the most blatant cases of vandalism and the like. I do always regret that these slips of verifiäbility pass by though, so I will be more diligent in the future! toby (t)(rw) 19:22, 28 June 2026 (UTC)

Possible Letterpress FAC
[edit]Hey, Tarlby: I saw your email a while back. I would edit Letterpress again, but I couldn't seem to address all the nitpicks brought up at the FAC review. I could use a bit of your insight from your work at Rain World (very late congrats, BTW). —TWOrantulaTM (enter the web) 05:56, 3 July 2026 (UTC)
- Hey @TrademarkedTWOrantula. Sorry about beïng late to respond. I'll look at the article later here when I have the time. toby (t)(rw) 03:00, 5 July 2026 (UTC)

Relisting
[edit]Hello. Seems a very quick look at and relisting of the category of people who've appeared on U.S. paper money. Can you take another, closer, read of the nomination and discussion. Seems an easy keep per consensus. Thanks. Randy Kryn (talk) 22:55, 15 July 2026 (UTC)
- @Randy Kryn Yes, I should've read the discussion rather than counting the !votes. Thank you. toby (t)(rw) 01:05, 16 July 2026 (UTC)
- Thank you, appreciated. But, hopefully, closers always read the discussion (that's why we discuss), I guess I'm old fashioned that way. But yes, thank you, and that was an interesting category to work on, taught me quite a bit about the history and concept flow of United States paper money. Randy Kryn (talk) 01:59, 16 July 2026 (UTC)
- And I didn't even know that many people were printed on US money. Good thing that category exists! toby (t)(rw) 02:19, 16 July 2026 (UTC)

Aw shucks!
[edit]I see you've gotten to ask the username origin question at both active RFAs before I have. Great minds think alike! (If you want, you can check out my subpage for such a thing.) —TWOrantulaTM (enter the web) 22:57, 15 July 2026 (UTC)
- @TrademarkedTWOrantula Lol, that's funny! Did you ask that question to other RFA's? I think I read those before and subconciously ingrained them into my mind. And on a side note, sorry about beïng slow with Letterpress. I ironically do not like reviewing articles (ignore my 20+ GA reviews), so I love taking my time. toby (t)(rw) 01:16, 16 July 2026 (UTC)
- Alright, first off, thanks for taking some of your time off to fill out my (hopefully soon to be not) dead subpage! Anyway, yeah... I did ask a username question for TechnoSquirrel's RFA. (Wasn't sure what else to ask, but hey, there are no stupid questions.)
Also, don't worry about Letterpress! I'm not rushing to get it to FA status at the moment. —TWOrantulaTM (enter the web) 06:02, 16 July 2026 (UTC)

[edit]Hi @Tarlby, I noticed a surprising close on your part in the above discussion. Given that there were 3 comments for keeping and 3 for deletion, why did you decide to close the discussion as a keep? I think this is an incorrect reading of the discussion on your part and ask you to reverse your close and relist it instead.--User:Namiba 14:31, 16 July 2026 (UTC)
- @Namiba I find it interesting how now there are two threads on my talk page on the exact same close, but that both are arguïng for two different things: one calling for me to close as keep and now this one that goes for a relist. When I had relisted, I (honestly) did not spend much time reading the discussion. I did count the votes and I did relist. But, as I had linked, an editor (whom was involved in the discussion) convinced me to read the discussion more thorougly, and I decided to close as keep, because I agreed with the Keep's side; I actually did not know that many people were involved on US paper money. In my perspective as a reader, this category was actually useful, and I had the opportunity to read these articles. And so now I have two threads on my talk page arguïng for two different things, both of which are from editors involved in the discussion, and both having a much longer tenure than me. I hope you understand that I'm not sure what to do in this position. Relisting for the second time in 13 hours feels like a spineless thing to do. toby (t)(rw) 14:46, 16 July 2026 (UTC)
- Wikipedia is about reaching a consensus. See Wikipedia:Deletion_process#Determining_consensus for help determining this. While you may feel like one side should "win" the discussion based on your experience as a reader, that is not the job of a discussion closer. I suggest relisting and letting someone else make the call. I don't think anyone can read that discussion and argue that anything like a consensus has been reached.--User:Namiba 14:54, 16 July 2026 (UTC)
- Easily a consensus for "no consensus with no relisting needed" at a minimum, but Keep is very reasonable given the counter-arguments to points made by deleting proponents. The category, by the way, has grown to 102 entries. Keeping the discussion closed and the category active seems appropriate per the back-and-forth discussion, and CfD is such an out-of-the-way category that three opposes is almost a landslide. Articles for Creation backlog drive
[edit]
Hello Tarlby:
WikiProject Articles for creation is holding a month long Backlog Drive in August!
The goal of this drive is to reduce the backlog of unreviewed drafts to less than a month of outstanding reviews from the current 3+ months. Bonus points will be given for reviewing drafts that have been waiting more than 30 days. The drive is running from 1 August 2026 through 31 August 2026.
You may find Category:AfC pending submissions by age or other categories and sorting helpful.
Barnstars will be given out as awards at the end of the drive.
There is a backlog of over 5000 pages, so start reviewing drafts. We're looking forward to your help! MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:38, 19 July 2026 (UTC)
- If you wish to opt-out of future mailings, please remove yourself from the mailing list or alternatively to opt-out of all massmessage mailings, you may add Category:Wikipedians who opt out of message delivery to your user talk page.
Hello, Tarlby,
It looks like when you closed this CFD discussion, you neglected to remove the CFD tag from Category:1993 in Harbin. Once you do this, the category can be tagged CSD C1 as an empty category which I think was the intention. I can only guess because this category wasn't mentioned in the nomination. Maybe you can ask the CFD discussion nominator or whomever tagged the category what result they would care for since they originally tagged it for discussion. Thank you for taking care of loose ends. Liz Read! Talk! 01:03, 19 July 2026 (UTC)
- Thanks @Liz. I'll remove the tag and mark it for a speedy. I've noticed that there are other XXXX in Harbin categories that exist which you've tagged as empty. I think when I checked to see that the nominated categories were tagged, I just missed that the nominator left out these other categories, including this one which was tagged but not listed. toby (t)(rw) 01:15, 19 July 2026 (UTC)
