Benoist book
Hello Soman. Does the Benoist book contain full election results for a few different countries? I am always trying to find new sources for historic elections, so if you come across any that contain useful details, do let me know. I have easy access to the British Library so can get hold of most books quite easily (I've already reserved the Benoist one for pickup later in the week). Cheers, Number 57 16:19, 8 August 2017 (UTC)
- I just read it through snippet view. Seems like it covers a number of elections in French West Africa, possibly all of them. Try snippet view searching "elu" or "votants", quite a few pages turn up. Go for it. --Soman (talk) 18:23, 8 August 2017 (UTC)
- OK, cool. I will have the full version in a couple of days time anyway :) Number 57 19:11, 8 August 2017 (UTC)

Symbol
Are you sure this is a communist symbol? Or is it a swastika draw over the election mural? Lbertolotti (talk) 02:40, 21 August 2017 (UTC)
- It is absolutely a communist symbol. I took the photograph to illustrate a point regarding how symbols have different connotations in different contexts. In India and Nepal the swastika has many positive connotations, one of them being that electoral ballots are stamped with the symbol. Combining the electoral symbol of a party (in this case the sun of the CPN(UML)) and a swastika means 'vote for this party. --Soman (talk) 19:23, 21 August 2017 (UTC)

Helper201
Hello there! This user in particular seems to have an interest in inserting his/her biased POV into Communist parties pages, like as in the Portuguese Communist Party's. However, Marxism-Leninism is only currently applied to the party's structure and organization and no longer advocates the dictatorship of the proletariat. Indeed, the PCTP/MRPP has been accusing the PCP of revisionism (which is what I think the "far-left" label should apply—anti-revisionism). What are your thoughts on this? B.Lameira (talk) 20:01, 25 August 2017 (UTC)
- Hi. My main take is that 'position' should be deleted from the political party infobox altogether. It adds nothing of encyclopediatic value, is totally subjective and spawns endless edit conflicts without resolution. --Soman (talk) 21:08, 25 August 2017 (UTC)
- Thank you for your reply. From definition, "far-left" usually applies to parties that either advocate for violent overthrow of the current system or simply refuse to work with other mainstream parties, which does not match the reality of the PCP, as it gives parliamentary support (they need to vote favourably for budget approval) to the António Costa cabinet. If you also look at user's talk page it shows some disruptive behaviour in the past, as well. --B.Lameira (talk) 21:52, 25 August 2017 (UTC)
