Why are you ignoring me?

[edit]

Why are you ignoring me? You archived a discussion you didn't even respond to. Spectritus (talk) 17:27, 7 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Firstly, I didn't archive the discussion. Any conversations on here automatically archives after a certain time period. Secondly, I'm not "ignoring" you. I've been away and hardly at my computer, but if you really think your messages merits a reply then all I'm going to say is it's your responsibility to educate yourself on the differences between original research, primary and secondary sources. I don't create the rules, nor am I responsible for educating others on them. The guidelines are clear and set out. If you don't understand why a random contributor going to a place where birth and death records are held and pulling one out, then using it as a source first hand is "original research" then I'm not quite sure what else I can do to help you. --Jkaharper (talk) 17:39, 7 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Manuel Gutiérrez

[edit]

You added the date of death of Manuel Gutiérrez based on this source, where I can't find anything about Manuel Gutiérrez. Is it possible that you have mixed up your sources, or did I miss something? Carlos-X (talk) 11:48, 13 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Carlos-X:, no it's not a mistake. The source I attached confirms that Gutiérrez is deceased as the last sentence mentions that only 2 players from that tournament were still living, therefore ruling out the possibility of Gutiérrez being alive. It translates as "Only two former footballers remain who participated in that ecumenical competition held in Brazil: the Chilean Manuel Muñoz (94) and the Mexican Antonio Carbal (93)." However, I see there is now a source here which states he died in 2000, aged 80. Whilst not the best source, I'll add it to the page and remove the unsourced death date. Thanks --Jkaharper (talk) 11:59, 13 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
That was quick. The source is not good, but “died before 2023” would be even worse. I used the new source to update the German article. Thank you! Carlos-X (talk) 12:19, 13 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
On second thought, it may well be that the Facebook page just used the date from the Wikipedia article. Carlos-X (talk) 12:42, 13 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

B. Saroja Devi

[edit]

Was undoing my edits a mistake, or was there something you disagreed with? Celjski Grad (talk) 09:43, 14 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, that was a mistake. I knew there was an edit conflict but I just thought it was with with a random IP performing a minor tweak. Apologies. --Jkaharper (talk) 09:51, 14 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
All good, I'll add them back. Celjski Grad (talk) 10:06, 14 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

"and death"

[edit]
story · music · places

Thank you for diligent work around RD articles! - I'd like to understand why you add "and death" to section headers even in cases where the one sentence about the death repeats what introduction and infobox already have. I believe that death is part of life. I do understand to have a header pointing at it in cases with a more complex story about a death, such as Mozart's. -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 12:31, 19 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
