On marking edits as minor

[edit]

Information icon Hi EmergentAnarchy! I noticed that you recently made an edit and marked it as "minor", but it may not have been. On Wikipedia, "minor edit" refers only to superficial edits that could never be disputed, such as fixing typos or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not minor, even if it only concerns a single word. Thank you.

Hey. I have noticed that you mark a lot of your edits as minor. They however do not appear to be such and you should stop marking them as such. As explained by the note above, on wikipedia minor means something that couldn't be disputed, so mostly obvious grammar and sentence structure matters. Any edit that adds or removes content is not minor, unless it was to remove very obvious vandalism. I recommend reading WP:MINOR for more information. It is not official wikipedia policy, but explains this well established editing norm about what is minor and what is not. I hope this will help you better contribute to Wikipedia. If you have questions I or better yet Wikipedia:Teahouse can help. Have a nice day! Finfixer (talk) 21:07, 29 April 2026 (UTC)[reply]
