Question from SteveGelsi (18:00, 27 April 2026)

[edit]

Hello Mentor, I'm a journalist who's interested in making a recommended addition to Wikipedia.org's biographies. I wanted to do a short bio of Steve Bloom, the former editor of High Times and author who was a major contributor to the term 420 being used to describe cannabis. He is one of the main reasons why April 20 has become the cannabis holiday. --SteveGelsi (talk) 18:00, 27 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

Question from Yvettendim (10:18, 30 April 2026)

[edit]
Note: Yvettendim's mentor AlphaBetaGamma is away.

Good morning, I’ve posted an article on Wikipedia, and it has been erased. I would like to know if I have not written any topics to wikipedia. I would like to know if I used another account, I am looking forward to hearing from you soon, Stay safe and healthy, Bye, Sandra --Yvettendim (talk) 10:18, 30 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

I don't know whether you used another account. I couldn't know this on my own even in principle, as I do not have the checkuser permission. Dege31 (talk) 16:14, 30 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

Question from CastielAlethora! (16:29, 8 May 2026)

[edit]

Hey! I'm a newbie at wiki, you can call me Casti. When do you think lengthening or adding more content to a page is do-able, and what should I look out for to edit/add when reading? --CastielAlethora! (talk) 16:29, 8 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

Whether it is doable, depends on your skill, and will.
You should look out for templates, needed sources, style/grammar, formatting, whether the sources support the text, and general applicability of the policies and guidelines. Dege31 (talk) 18:19, 8 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
Okay, great! Thanks for your guidance, Dege. CastielAlethora! (talk) 16:05, 9 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

Question from Minimana2289 (14:01, 6 June 2026)

[edit]

How do I edit in a certain article? When I go to it, I don't see the edit option. Also, you're human, right? --Minimana2289 (talk) 14:01, 6 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

That is probably because you tried to edit an article which is under extended confirmed protection.
Yes, I am human. Dege31 (talk) 15:38, 6 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
ohhhh that makes sense actually. Sorry if my question was weird, we just live in an age of AI. Minimana2289 (talk) 16:06, 6 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Question from Minimana2289 on User talk:Minimana2289 (19:04, 16 June 2026)

[edit]

Hi

I have a question. I want to edit the Wikipedia page on my village as it very much lacks a lot of information which I can add from several sources, but editing is something very foreign to me.

Things like: citation, link to sources, making sections, links as a word etc are very confusing.

May you help me? --Minimana2289 (talk) 19:04, 16 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Sure, ask me anything. I've also sent a short intro to your Talk page. Dege31 (talk) 19:07, 16 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Question from Ptorplo (23:19, 18 June 2026)

[edit]

Hello, thanks for being available as a mentor. I've made a few edits that are generally additions under the heading "In popular culture" which adds a reference to a wiki page about an individual that appears in a work of fiction. For example: on Bobby Thompson's page I added information that his game winning 1951 home run (the shot heard round the world) is a key element in Don DeLillo's 1997 novel Underworld. I cited the novel and included it as a reference. Is this accepted practice? In another case (on a different wiki page), another contributor removed my reference to a novel. Wondering why? --Ptorplo (talk) 23:19, 18 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

[edit]

How do I create a page? --Jadeharris1920 (talk) 03:59, 24 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

At the moment, you can only create a draft, because you are not autoconfirmed. Dege31 (talk) 15:27, 24 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Question from Kenmore57 (20:05, 16 July 2026)

[edit]

Hi Dege31! I had a quick question about editing guidelines; I am currently working on a large renovation of the Paris Metro Line 18 article, which is currently available to view in my sandbox. The article was copy-pasted from the French article at some point and was translated poorly, so I am rewriting AND updating the article's content, which to me feels like I'm basically just writing a brand new article. Should I submit the revised article as a draft so it can be approved first since it's such a big change, or is it ok to just edit the article and publish the new version immediately? I just want to make sure I don't break any guidelines of any sort. Thank you! --Kenmore57 (talk) 20:05, 16 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

If you mean Articles for Creation, only articles about new subjects are generally the focus, so this is unnecessary.
If you feel like any change might be controversial, you can update the article in a piecemeal fashion, but if you're otherwise following the guidelines, and feel it's definitely an improvement, it's fine to just do it one fell swoop. Dege31 (talk) 10:00, 17 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
Ok, sounds good. Thanks for your help! Kenmore57 (talk) 13:02, 17 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

Articles for Creation backlog drive

[edit]

Hello Dege31:

WikiProject Articles for creation is holding a month long Backlog Drive in August!
The goal of this drive is to reduce the backlog of unreviewed drafts to less than a month of outstanding reviews from the current 3+ months. Bonus points will be given for reviewing drafts that have been waiting more than 30 days. The drive is running from 1 August 2026 through 31 August 2026.

You may find Category:AfC pending submissions by age or other categories and sorting helpful.

Barnstars will be given out as awards at the end of the drive.
There is a backlog of over 5000 pages, so start reviewing drafts. We're looking forward to your help! MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:37, 19 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
