wise cleanup

Thank you for quality articles on military history such as Battle of Pocotaligo, gnomish work on articles and fighting subtle vandalism, for illustrating "wise old thing" (with a ring to it), for working on cleanup in the tavern, - you are an awesome Wikipedian!

Reason: Unprotect - or at least Semi-protect - page was protected almost 20 years ago apparently due to a legal threat. Wellington Bay (talk) 14:08, 18 July 2026 (UTC)

Not due to just a legal threat, but something a fair bit more complicated. In any event, TRYUNPROT seems like a good idea. —Jéské Couriano v^_^v Look out it's Jimothy! 14:25, 18 July 2026 (UTC)

Reason: Originally, this page was a cross-namespace redirect to Wikipedia:Community portal.[1] Then, in conjunction with Wikipedia:Village pump (technical)/Archive 43#Proposal: Move main page to a different namespace, the page was changed to a test for a new location for the main page[2] and the page was permanently protected. That test was then abandoned with the decision that the main page should remain where it was, and the page made a redirect to the main page[3] and then, following an RfD, back to its original target[4]. However, the permanent page protection was never removed, so I request that the page be unprotected, back to the status quo. Bsherr (talk) 20:48, 18 July 2026 (UTC)

Autopatrolled

[edit]

I have written over 900 articles since 2020. User:JTtheOG has reviewed most of them and has told me that they are regularly published at full length with sources and formatting correct, and the leads indicate notability for reviewers whose personal interests are not in the article subject area. I have never had an article deleted at AfD, and I can only recall one ever being nominated, which was one of my first and thus under higher scrutiny. My autopatrolled rights were revoked for using LLM models. I subsequently acknowledged my mistakes and have since made a good-faith effort to clean up my non-compliant edits. Since my autopatrolled rights were revoked, I have created more than 50 {{pharma-stub}} articles, of which approximately 10 have already been marked as patrolled. In light of these efforts and my subsequent editing record, I respectfully request that my autopatrolled rights be restored. Boghog (talk) 18:45, 16 July 2026 (UTC)

Not done. Boghog, I appreciate the good-faith attempt, but I think it's too early to regrant AP just yet. A few months would be better, and would give NPP more time to review your newer creations. If you're creating dozens of tidy new articles I don't think it will be long before an NPR asks you to apply for it anyway. Thanks again, and sorry to disappoint. Hello! I'd like AWB rights to correct typos, (I'll ideally choose one possible typo to correct every day, though this might be every week), and to... yeah, typos is basically it. If I want to do anything more controversial, I'll ask for a consensus or an admin check (whichever is more plausible in my judgement). A possible typo would be "definitly". Thanks! In solidarityWikipedian12512 (Talking is fine | contribs) 00:18, 16 June 2026 (UTC)

Other possible decisions include: replacing instances of “cafe” with “café”, changing written out numbers >10 with numbers, and a few other typos. In solidarity Wikipedian12512 (Talking is fine | contribs) 23:47, 27 June 2026 (UTC)
I hope you don’t intend to replace “cafe” (standard British English) with the accented French word. MichaelMaggs (talk) 08:30, 30 June 2026 (UTC)
@Wikipedian12512: thoughts on this comment? Best, HouseBlaster (talk • he/they) 20:11, 3 July 2026 (UTC)
I’ll trust that this is true, but my (although limited) searching claims that café is preferable. Sorry for the late response, I’ve been away from WiFi for a while. Merriam Webster prefers café (https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/café). Oxford English Dictionary also uses café, but it also mentions that “cafe” is synonymous with “coffee” in certain cases, so I’d be careful with that.
This is something where my initial thought would be that uniformity is simple enough where it would be preferable, but, again, I’ll trust you all. In solidarity Wikipedian12512 (Talking is fine | contribs) 02:00, 4 July 2026 (UTC)

I'm closing this as  Not done; the pblock combined with the above exchange convince me that granting AWB would not be wise. Typos need to be fixed, but before proposing to fix a typo, you should be sure it is a typo. Best, HouseBlaster (talk • he/they) 22:28, 16 July 2026 (UTC)

I do a lot of category fixing, editing, and sorting on multiple pages to sort them into the correct categories, create subcategories when needed, etc., and i think this tool would help with that! HighlandFacts (talk) 14:32, 6 July 2026 (UTC)

Per the above notice, You do not usually need AWB access to: ... do category maintenance (see WP:CATALOT). Is there a reason cat-a-lot is insufficient for your needs? Best, HouseBlaster (talk • he/they) 22:28, 16 July 2026 (UTC)

Hi! I'd like to request AWB permissions to make a significant change in backlogs, cleanup categories, and the like! Of course, I am a person, and won't simply make edits willy nilly.

(Though this may be obvious), I'll check each edit and make sure they're correct before actually doing them. Also, I'll probably use it to alleviate MOS:CURLY stuff. WikipediholicRat (talk) 23:57, 15 July 2026 (UTC)

I am requesting AWB access to efficiently perform routine article cleanup, fix formatting, and handle repetitive maintenance tasks. — Raihanur (talk) 15:25, 16 July 2026 (UTC)

@Raihanur, I'm a bit concerned here about your comparatively low use of edit summaries. I'll leave this for someone else to handle, but I think you may want to enable the setting that prevents you from publishing an edit without adding a summary first. In solidarity, asilvering (talk) 22:25, 16 July 2026 (UTC)
Thanks for the advice! I've enabled the setting and will be careful about always adding edit summaries. — Raihanur (talk) 04:22, 17 July 2026 (UTC)
I would like to use AWB because I am currently subcategorising many set index articles. However, as the articles are categorised with templates, I am unable to use HotCat to automate this and have to resort to manually mass editing and replacing these templates. I fear that I might be automatically flagged and so AWB would be a helpful tool to assist this process. zsteve21 (talk) 15:19, 17 July 2026 (UTC)

New page reviewer

[edit]

I would like to request New Page Patrolling rights. I had asked for this a few months back, and was told to come back after some more experience.

  • I have made over 1,600 edits.
  • I have created 5 articles, and significantly expanded around 15 more.
  • I've reviewed some new articles.

Thank you! Shubhsamant09 (talk) 00:56, 16 July 2026 (UTC)

Thank you for your interest in this permission and your contributions to Wikipedia. However, in reviewing your recent article creations, I'm not seeing a clear demonstration that you understand the relevant guidelines and policies, and note that your latest article creation, Jio Internet Revolution, has had several rather serious templates on it since May. Please continue to create articles and to participate at AFD before reapplying. Your active topic-ban against GA/FA reviews also gives pause, and would make me hesitant to confer permissions unless you had a stellar recent record of relevant edits.  Not done. signed, Rosguill talk 17:33, 16 July 2026 (UTC)

I have been editing for a while now and increasingly getting acquainted with editing guidelines regarding what is acceptable and what is not through my participation in AFD, and casually patrolling new pages where I mostly try to fix minor issues and sometimes nominate for deletion, articles that appear to fall dangerously below standard and moved the ones I think could be improved upon to draft for additional work on such. While doing this, I also frequently come across articles that are of high standard, and I will appreciate it if I can mark them as patrolled reducing the burden of the editors who have been gatekeeping to ensure that Wikipedia maintains its standard, reliable and trusted. Santa Saana (talk) 14:24, 16 July 2026 (UTC)

OK, I've reviewed what I was told at my last request. I now have over 200 mainspace edits. I've tried singing up to CVU/A, and now I'm just waiting. Requesting rollback permissions to try AntiVandal, Interceptor, and Huggle. And everything else. Patrolling RecentChanges seems to be the only thing I do nowadays, and I would like rollback to be able to fight vandals better. AZenit3 [Chat?-stuff I've done] 01:47, 25 May 2026 (UTC)

Been patrolling recent changes for some time now with Twinkle, and I would like to try using more advanced tools like Huggle which require this permission. TheNerdzilla (talk) 13:45, 29 May 2026 (UTC)

Hello. I have rollback in my account at Simple Wikipedia. Having tried this evening to counter the activities of ~2026-33439-05 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · nuke contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log), I think it would be useful to have rollback here too. I work almost exclusively on cricket articles at present, and it is a subject that frequently attracts vandals. Thanks. Jack (talk) 19:28, 6 June 2026 (UTC)

Reason for requesting rollback rights: I have been doing RC patrol for the last while, and would like rollback to be able to more efficiently fight vandalism. I understand that my changes that I make while using this tool are my responsibility. signed, A Random Hylian (Parry)(swing) 12:26, 15 June 2026 (UTC)

Hello! I'd like rollback if I ever come across vandalism (I see some as a PCR). I check recent changes almost every day, but mostly all the cases of vandalism get reverted by capable rollbakcers. As far as I can tell, this is the best way (and I think you need this for interceptor, which really seems to make it better). Thanks! @Wikipedian12512(alt): Looking at your contributions on both accounts, I'm seeing limited engagement with counter-vandalism, making it hard to determine how you approach this kind of work. Your recent blocks over participation in user conduct venues also give me pause; counter-vandalism patrollers often need to report problematic editors to administrative boards, and it's important to be able to engage with those processes productively. I'm going to mark this as  not done for now, but I would recommend that you continue using Twinkle and reapply in a few months when you have more of a demonstrable track record. Let me know if you have any questions! TechnoSquirrel69 (talk) 23:09, 16 July 2026 (UTC)

I've been patrolling recent changes frequently. While my account is still somewhat new (and I took a short break last week), I do have 566 edits so far - mainly involving reverting vandalism (but I have also wrote new articles, reported users, participated in afd, and improved articles). I always warn users after I revert their edits. Ever since I have gained access to Twinkle, it has made patrolling so much easier. I would like rollback permissions to be able to use the antivandal and interceptor tools too. Those tools would make reverting much more efficent. FlammablePizza (talk) 19:29, 18 June 2026 (UTC)

Update: I am now Extended Confirmed and have made nearly 700 edits on the English Wikipedia and nearly 800 edits globally. I have also continued patrolling recent changes and reverting vandalism using Twinkle. FlammablePizza (talk) 17:06, 29 June 2026 (UTC)

Reason for requesting rollback rights: I've learned a lot during these times, and is able to deal with vandalism properly, although sometimes I make mistakes when determining whether the vandal should be warned or reported. Rollback will enable me to revert faster than using twinkle, and to try out tools such as Interceptor and Huggle. -- Least Action (talk) 03:36, 25 June 2026 (UTC)

Hi. I've been reviewing drafts at AfC, COI requests and NPP for quite a while now. Might consider trialing Huggle in the medium term as part of my modest toolbox. Thanks :) PK650 (talk) 06:36, 25 June 2026 (UTC)

Hi, I am requesting rollback rights in order to combat vandalism more easily with WP:Interceptor, particularly on recent changes, which I have been patrolling for a while. I have read and understood WP:Vandalism, and aim to follow all of its guidelines. Every nonconstructive edit I have reverted (mainly via Twinkle), I have added a user warning to the editor's talk page. Axolitl (talk | contribs) 19:50, 25 June 2026 (UTC)

Request made one day in advance. My rollback privileges expire tomorrow, and I have been using Interceptor constructively. ozmoozmo@enwiki$t.c 01:13, 30 June 2026 (UTC)

I am an Extended Confirmed editor with over 2 months of experience, 1,000+ edits, and a steady daily editing pace. I spend a significant amount of time on Recent Changes patrol using Twinkle, where I regularly revert blatant vandalism and issue appropriate user warnings/welcomes. I am requesting the native rollback tool to handle obvious vandalism and page-blanking more efficiently, as well as to use counter-vandalism gadgets like Huggle and Interceptor that require it. I understand the tool is strictly for clear-cut vandalism and will never use it in content disputes. MarioWonderExpert talk) 13:17, 1 July 2026 (UTC)

  • Polite bump. This request has been pending for more than two weeks. I currently have over 1,200 total edits and continue to actively use Twinkle for counter-vandalism. I would appreciate it if an administrator could take a look when time permits. Thank you! MarioWonderExpert (talk) 01:47, 17 July 2026 (UTC)

I would like to request Rollback rights. My last request was on 18 May. According to previous advice, I have tried to follow a clear workflow, including issuing warnings and reporting Vandalism, Block evasion, and Disruptive editing at AIV, RFPP, and AN/EW. In addition, I use Twinkle for warnings, reports, and reverts. AriuCH (talk) 18:27, 2 July 2026 (UTC)

Hello! I would like to request rollback permissions to streamline correcting cascading vandalism. I have no history of editorial conflict, have experience in anti-vandalism work, a healthy edit count, and would also like to integrate automation into my editing workflow. Additionally, I am aware that rollback permissions are not — ipso facto — a license to act, and that any action taken must be taken with the assumption of the rolled-back edit(s) being undeniable vandalism. If there are any particular concerns I do not address, please feel free to inform me thereof. Thank you! Chat-qui-Aboie (talk) 06:32, 7 July 2026 (UTC) Chat-qui-Aboie (talk) 06:32, 7 July 2026 (UTC)

I've recently been using SWViewer and Twinkle to revert vandalism, so this permission would be very useful for me. I'm already very familiar with how it works, as I already have this permission on other Wikimedia projects. -- 🐦‍🔥 Aws 💬 Talk 14:23, 12 July 2026 (UTC)

I would like to rquest Rollback permissions firstly in order to make use of tools like Huggle & AntiVandal. Secondly rollback permissions will allow me to increase the speed of my workflow as most of it consists of RC patrolling edits by unregistered & new accounts. My contribution history demonstrates that I have multiple months of RC Patrol experience and no history of edit warring. At the time of writing this I have 656 live edits of which 220 are in the Main namespace and 262 are in the User Talk namespace, this shows my track record of consistently notifying editors when reverting their edits. Vydrakk (talk) 10:03, 15 July 2026 (UTC)

For a little over a week, I've been patrolling the recent changes feed with Twinkle to find and address any instances of vandalism or otherwise poor edits. This has been working quite well, and I've been mostly successful in reverting low-quality edits, notifying the users who made them, and preventing them from making similar edits in the future. I've repeated this process hundreds of times, and while I definitely have more to learn about anti-vandalism, I think I've developed a solid routine.

However, I've been seeing other users use tools such as Huggle and Interceptor, both of which require the rollback permission to function. When I took a look at these tools, they seemed extremely helpful for finding edits of bad faith with celerity, allowing me to revert, warn, and report with much less pointer clicking, field inputting, and tab switching. Lacking the permission, however, I couldn't use these tools. I'd like to request this permission in order to do so. Salmon of Knowledge (talk) 01:29, 16 July 2026 (UTC)

Hi! I've been fixing small mistakes in Wikipedia off and on for about eight years now (more specifically five years in the English Wikipedia, eight in Finnish Wikipedia), ending up with about 740 global edits, out of which roughly 500 are in the English Wikipedia, and recently I've been interested in upping my participation in patrolling recent edits. I've been eyeing using Interceptor to improve the work, but that unfortunately is off-limits to non-rollbackers. Thanks! Seqv (talk) 22:17, 16 July 2026 (UTC)

I would like to becomes a rollbacker because I am experienced in reverting vandalism. I already have experience from 2024, but I went back to doing it this year. I am aware of counter vandalism using the filter log. I revert and warn with editing tool Twinkle, which is mostly used to revert vandalism. Even if someone makes disruptive edits or removes content, I am also quick to revert and warn them. Rollbacking will be easier and quicker for me to revert edits that are problematic, vandalism, and disruptive. Beyhive Navy 🐝🪖 (talk) 11:24, 17 July 2026 (UTC)
Requests for template editor

Template editor

[edit]

Hi. I am requesting TE rights so I can make edits to template-protected template faster. I have numerous (over 5) template requests, of which I believe around 5 have been accepted, and have made over 3 sandbox edits. My main template edite are those which help readability on Dark Mode while minimally affecting light mode, such as my series of edite to Wdefcon templates ({{Edit COI/backlog}}, {{AfC information}}, etc.). With TE, I would be able to make more of these, alongside others. Axolitl (talk | contribs) 22:49, 14 July 2026 (UTC)

I also don't know if this matters, but I just had another edit request answered, leaving me at 5 accepted edit requests. Axolitl (talk | contribs) 03:17, 16 July 2026 (UTC)
Requests for temporary account IP viewer

Temporary account IP viewer

[edit]

Requesting temporary account IP viewer rights to help with counter-vandalism on Eastern European and Balkan articles. This will also let me spot disruptive and banned accounts and catch sockpuppet evasion. Nishjan (talk) 18:31, 18 July 2026 (UTC)

Done Sohom (talk) 23:03, 18 July 2026 (UTC)
I'd like to request temporary account IP viewer rights, just in case more than one temporary account disrupts Wikipedia. I reported two edit wars, one containing multiple unregistered users and one with a registered user. On a template, I also reverted vandalism two weeks after a temporary account vandalized it.
